Girl hurt in escalator mishap

A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was injured after her shoe was caught between the steps of an escalator at Funan DigitaLife Mall on Sunday.

 

Lea Tissen was holding on to the hand of her father, Wladimir Tissen, 31 and standing a step ahead of him on the escalator when her left foot got stuck beneath the very last step of the moving stairs.

 

Hearing her scream, her father immediately rushed to her aid and tried to free her foot from her pink ankle-strapped sandal but the damage was done.

 

Two of her toe nails were ripped out. Mall officials bandaged up her foot and sent her to KKH Women and Children's Hospital where her large toe was stitched up.

 

'It was lucky that I could open her shoe and release her foot. Parents are often not aware of how dangerous escalators can be,' said Mr Tissen, a sales manager.

 

Officials from the mall also visited the Tissen family, who are from Germany at their home in Woodlands on Monday and presented them with a fruit basket and a teddy bear.

Saw the photo of the shoes...dun think they are Crocs...Looks more like some leather stripe shoes for kids...

 

My toddler girls wear Crocs...they do trip a lot though...

I anti-crocs.Find them very unpleasant looking.One chunk of rubber on the feet.

try put anti slip for shoes on the soles for the crocs. They do help.

Funny....news about FT always seems to have better treatment/outcome!

my son was only around 2+ when he got 2 of his finger nails riped off, when some kids when to slam the door..

this is not surprising. even if we go overseas, ang mo always get better service.

 

i was in the dentist clinic then. not enuff seats, we stand. nurse bo-chap.

 

Then one fine day, an ang mo came and no seats, the nurse quickly bring out a stool for him.
