Possibly, who knows if i have gotten other ... laugh.gif

But i know of people who gladly flock to Jap camp after their contis. nod.gif It is as u said, the car's model that counts, not the nationality.

For me I find joy in researching and "waiting for the correct moment" to make a purchase. But when is the "correct" moment? [:)]

No harm researching more and waiting especially in current situation. I would love to be in your position. [;)]

I am currently owning a conti and a jap car. IMHO, it all depends on what you are looking at with the same price range.

Conti Pro

1. Comfortable

2. Feel safer

3. Feel better (LOL)

Conti Con

1. Small for most model

2. FC not as good as Jap jawdrop.gif

3. Maintenance cost jawdrop.gifjawdrop.gif

4. Unless you plan to drive the conti for 10 yrs, else your yearly depreciation is jawdrop.gifjawdrop.gifjawdrop.gif. My yearly depreciation for 10 yrs is ~11K. U can imagine how much I will lose if I sell my ride on the first 3 years.

I am paying 1/2 the price of my sedan conti for a Jap MPV which gives me better FC, spacious and xtra cash to ICE mod. thumbsup.gif

If I am to compare a jap and a conti, I will go for a bigger jap car that fits my weekly needs, reason : Family of 4 + 1 maid + sometime in law.

My conti got banged by a lorry on the driver side recently and if I were driving my lancer instead, I might not be typing here....so money spent is all worth it...

That's your perception. But surely not all complaining conti drivers have a lemon right. sly.gif

Just look at any reliability survey and you can see why there's higher chance of conti driver complaining about reliability. Of coz there are pros as well, so it's up to individual experience and preferences. But to make a sweeping statement abt conti and Jap just doesn't make it. sweatdrop.gif

I am also driving a 1 yr old Lancer Ex and thinking of "up"grading to a 3yrs old BMW 320i E90. But after seeing US messy financial market lately, decided to put off/defer the idea for the time being

after experiencing the steering feel/feedback of a good conti,

most japanese models steering feels like playing arcade/console/computer driving games:

loosely connected to the front wheels.

i guess in part due to electric power steering...

Firstly, all postings here are my opinions. 2ndly, I don't understand what sweeping statement I made. Pls clarify. All the ppl I koe prefers conti even those that owned Jap cars. What's d make of your conti that you found was not up to scratch?

Sweeping statements (to me at least):

- Once you drive a conti, you wouldn't want to switch back...go for it...

My whole point is that there are folks who choose Jap car as their next ride after trying out contis. Sure, if you give a free 200K conti or a 100K Jap, everyone will choose the 200K conti (then maybe later go out and sell it or cash, hehe laugh.gif).

i dont think u can find a car that breaks down every other mth. even if there are problems, it may break down for a few months, but once fixed or replace parts, wil be as good as new.

however, it def to cost more to run a conti due to parts availability. but i wont say its unreliable to the point of being unrealistic. try not to factor reliability in your decision, as its more of cost issue.

really depends on what you want.. if you want to have a change, just go for it.

cars will break down, it's a matter of when.. doesn't matter whether it's a japz, korean or conti..

if it really continue to be a lemon, just sell off and get another car lor..

but if you are really so worrying, then stick to your own current car and save the money in some biscuit tin. [:)]

not really, some japz are quite good as well. but it really depends on the price range.. for those below 100k, i think the conti feel is more apparent compared to its japz peer.. [:)]
