Neutral Newbie

bro, as long as the HU's got the AUX output, it can support the iPod, be it single or double-din. I think MAYBE your installer is trying to [knife] you... go seek 2nd, 3rd opinions, all the way until you're satisfied bro.. homework, leg work very very important..

Go for HU with full iPod support, not those with Aux in.

Alpine is good, like the 9887 with iPod fullspeed support. This means you can control the ipod from the HU, like searching for your playlist, albums etc.

Notice the iPod in the glovebox, and the HU displaying song from iPod:

there's no difference in audio quality from single din and double din.if single din,you will get a small space under ur HU for your small stuffs.just like a 'pocket' compartment.if you use double din, there will not be a 'pocket' space under it as it will take up the whole space.

as for ipod use,you can use the ipod adapter,fm transmitter or just use AUX cable.AUX cable can be used as long ur HU has AUX in input.what you use to connect ur ipod to ur HU depends on ur budget.cheapest is of course by using AUX cable. [thumbsup]

U can try the Pioneer 4050 double din HU - it comes with ipod cable etc. Local set is abt $1k and export set is abt $650.

Alt, u can get the double din JVC HUs. Good thing abt JVC is that the bluetooth adaptor for phone (if u intend to get one) is a lot more reasonable compared to Pioneer & Alpine.

I am currently using the Harmon/Kardon for my car.

I got this 2 years back and all in all, costs S$500.00 including installation. The HU must have an Aux out in order for the iPOD player to work.

The knob functions just like an iPOD so you can view just like an iPOD.
