A heel spur is that the growth of the nail, as in the heel bone that goes beyond the skin of the foot. This happens because of plantar fasciitis, a condition where the plantar fascia that connects your heel bone to the ball with the foot is worn and inflamed. The plantar fascia is to support the arch, while on the go. This part gets all the power and weight that comes from the whole body when walking, running, jumping, or simply standing. When this thick fabric can not handle the power it has, it becomes inflamed and most of the time results in a heel spur or plantar fasciitis, which is painful.

Dear all,

Looks like age has really caught up with me.

Have been bugged by heel pain for close to a year. Consulted a Chinese physician and he told me it's heel spur (骨刺).

Went for a few sessions of bone setting (推拿)and there was quite a significant improvement initially. But after a while, the treatment seems to have reached a saturation where I can't get any further improvements. I could still feel the residual pain, especially after a walk.

Has anyone here encountered a similar problem, is there any treatment I could seek?

唉...不认老都不行了.

Just to share what I heard. A sister of mine even got X-rays report to confirm the bone spur. The effective treatment for her recovery: retirement. About a year after early retirement, she fully recovered and can ran around. The she felt so bored and return to work. Same spur return, so she knew she really go to retire. All other treatments over the years were quite useless.

Painkillers for acute pain

Prevention

- some hardcore runners place their feet into bucket of cold h20 post runs. Dunno if will make arthritis worse or not in Asian context

- Stretching (daily)

- Good footwear

Still persistent, KIV xray TRO calcaneal spur.

"Bone smashing" treatment sounds pretty idiotic to me.

Heel spur , I had it a few years back , now already cure . I do not spend a lot of money and time . May be

mine very mild .

If you notice some of the old and new HDB estate , there have a pebble stone which old people like

to step on it .

First , I stepped on this little stone which is really very painful ( step on it in the afternoon when it's hot) .

Second , went for a massage ( only twice ) , not very painful because I'm used to it .

Third , wear good footwear to work and at home (special slippers ) .

I have it as well. I think its attributed to lots of walking. I walk like 6-7 km to and from gym 3-4 times a week. I also walk my dogs for like 3km everyday. Want to find permanent cure also cannot cos it keeps coming back.

Hi Albeniz,

Juz reading the posts in this topic. May I know has your condition improve more? My father juz discover the foot bone spur 2 months ago. Up till today he still feel very pain and the pain quite disturb to his life. He has changed the shoes to the scholl. Still no improvement.

I would like to know are you still taking the combination treatments as in your post?

Shall I bring my father to Orthopaedic Clinic Spre to see Dr. KY?

Please help.

Thanks.

My condition is currently under control and I cannot feel the spur pain now.

I tried the combinations listed in this thread, all at the same time. So it could be a combination of the treatments added together.

1. Weekly foot reflexology (until today)
2. Rising Sun Reflexology Therapy at AMK.
3. Chinese medical hall at Blk 603, Clementi West St 1, #01-35.
4. Chao Kang at Bukit Timah Shopping Center level 1 (look for Physician Yang, he is good at bone setting. The treatment duration at each session is very short but effective, many who equate fee charged to duration of treatment may find it relatively expensive). I used to have a back pain too, physio-therapy at hospital didn't help (over 1 year) and I went to him and got the problem solved after 2 sessions only. When it comes to bone-settings, his treatments worked for me, but my mother didn't find his treatment as effective. For me, I also went to him for the heel spur treatment. I remember his shop is not open on Wednesday and closes at about 6pm daily.

5. I stopped wearing business shoes which gave me the spur problem and changed to Reebok shoes and added the thick in-soles support.

-----------------------------------
I crossed Ma guang out for my treatment. Not too effective in my opinion.

Do practise extra care as your FIL is diabetic. Better to inform the doctor/physician before they proceed with any treatments.

I have the experience of heel pain and it is often in the morning and late evening before I sleep. After doing some research, I went to Orthotics Lab Singapore and make a pair of custom orthotics. I have been wearing the custom orthotics ever since for my sports shoes. I am intending to make another pair for my work shoes soon.

It really work wonders. I can even resume my basketball activities after 2 weeks. No pain in the morning and evening.

Maybe can try what i did and still doing.

Buy a good pair of shoes with thick insole.

When you sleep on your back dont rest your legs (cross-legs) at the ankle area as it will put more pressure on your heel that is at the bottom.

I had pain in my heel for quite a number of yrs and it only hurts when i am working or the moment i wake up in the morning. Noticed that i had been sleeping with my feets crossed at the ankle area and tried to stop the habit which i had started from my youth days. Now i try to sleep on my side or with a cushion on my ankle lifting the heels off the bed. It helps a lot and now the pain has become more bearable and slowly disappearing.

freeze the corn and feel the burning sensation of the liquified nitrogen.

corn will be gone but whether it comes back again is another thing that you might need to take care of.
