Lancer79 Neutral Newbie September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 Hi all Has anyone tried mintex or ferodo brake pads? My current stock pads are wearing out soon , and was thinking of chnging to mintex or ferodo. but i am worried that my stock rotors might not be able to take it. By the way , whats is the difference between this two? thanks!! Any comments/suggestions? thanks!! ↡ Advertisement
Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 mintex is fine but alot alot alot brake dust due to metallic compound. Stock rotors should be able to take it but may wear out faster.
Hamburger Hypersonic September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 problem is: 1)does it emit any screeching sound when brake is applied? 2)Does it perform better than stock? 3)How is e price? gurus pls enlighten
Bern2 Neutral Newbie September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 Am on Ferodo's. Good initial bite and even modulation. Much better than stock. Been on it for 2 years with stock rotors in all types of weather. Would recommend it for street use. Some have even tracked with it. No complaints other than being dusty too. Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 1) previous rotor after awhile yes. I think cause rotor wearing out. changed to new rotors few weeks ago, no sound. 2) Before mintex, was using delphi, no difference to me. Should be better than stock 3) got it at less than $100 (exclude install)

Octopus 3rd Gear September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 My previous COE car came with Newtron brake pad (blue colour), I like it very much. Don't have brake dust problem, good stopping power but I do find the rotor have scratch lines on it. I couldn't find much info in this brake pad from internet... Later replaced to Vetto (blue colour) brake pad and I find it generate quite alot of dust and stopping power not as good... My current stock brake pad also generate brake dust... Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 i guess u mean the calipers. 1st thing first, your rims must be able to clear the brakes. These brakes are usually known as Big Brake Kit, popular brands are Brembo, Endless, AP, VTTR, etc There are the normal 2 pot, 4 pot, 6pot and 8pot. And the mini version. Bascially you are looking at 4 digit to buy the brakes from 1k+ to 6k+ per pair. Some you saw may be fake, they just change the plastic cover. I not a pro in brakes, these are some of the details i learnt over time during my stay in MCF.
Hiphiphoray 6th Gear September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 oh. Ya, i meant the calipers. Wahhh...1+k onwards. Quite ex. Should perform much better than stock ones right ?
Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 Yup. But most impt, do you need it? If you want swee nia then go spray paint your calipers lor, can put whatever/name or brand on the calipers

Modykoh 1st Gear September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 tried both b4 on my previous cs3... ferodo is more dusty, if you got a gray colour rim then is ok..imo, mintex is more consistence throughout...

Galantspeedz Turbocharged September 3, 2008 Share September 3, 2008 rotor may wear out faster due to metallic compound in the brakepads. Yes generally good/sport brakepads will have alot of dusts. Something llikegrippy tyres will always be noisy...
