Oh, sorry!

Than UK should not interfere.

Just send him back to Singapore.

Isn't sending him to Singapore interfering? What you mean is that UK should interfere in our favor?  [laugh]

If I were UK, I'd just send him back to Canada and let it be Canada's problem.

BANGKOK (REUTERS) - Fugitive former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister, former leader Yingluck, were in Singapore on Tuesday (Feb 20), in a rare sighting of them since Yingluck fled Thailand last year, and a day after Thaksin called for unity within his party.

Pot. Meet kettle.

To me it is MFA who says ok to no caning but not the Singapore judicary system or the Singapore judge says no caning. You get what I mean? So don't be surprised MFA later says it's out of their hands to UK. LoL...

Yes, good idea [laugh] Or employ our special services to bring him back here, no need talk so much. Learn from the israelis and the long arm of their justice. Anywhere in the world, you have to face the music and the rotan.

It would be easier to prosecute him to the fullest extent of our law if he did not escape.

I don't know how capable our so called special services is but if it is in the same class as our "hide from Bangla" and "test the wrong seat with rapekit" police then please forget it.

This is a very good point - nobody is above the judiciary. Once you undermine your own judges, you are no different from a dictatorship.

Then every time SG ask another EU UK Aust or US for an escaped criminal, this case will be cited as why the criminal should not be sent back to SG. Even if their MFA agreed, a legal challenge will be launched in their court to override the decision, and this case will give the defense lawyers the best evidence they can hope for. Got to think long term and see big picture.

It's not an issue of extradition. Anyway Commonwealth countries do have some extradition agreement. Every country has their own set of laws and judicary system to uphold and no one can bend the rules just at every request. I believe the two countries would ultimately come to some kind of compromise but not fully comply upon the request. They got to understand laws are set dfifferently in each country otherwise it would all be pointless.

If you want to give the "everytime" example dan every robber will just use this example to get away with robbery. Right? What are our laws for?

Wrong. You can’t use this example to get away with robbery. You need to take a plane, train, car or sampan to get away from robbery.

And if you go get away, try to get away to a country with no extradition treaty or whose law have a strong human right slant.

If today a Singaporean say 15 yr old is wanted for stealing an apple in a Saudi Arabia market punishable by chopping his hand off, do we send him back?

From CNA:-

SINGAPORE: Police are searching for a man who threatened to blow up a pawn shop outside Boon Lay MRT station on Saturday afternoon (Jul 28) after a failed attempt to rob it.

The man entered the pawn shop at about 4.30pm, said the police.

Armed with a knife and a gun that is believed to be a replica, the man demanded that an employee hand over cash and jewellery.

When the employee refused, the man allegedly said he would blow up the shop, claiming he had an explosive device.

"The man then threw the said object on the counter and fled the pawnshop without taking any items. The said object was immediately thrown out of the pawnshop by the staff who then called the police," said the Singapore Police Force in a Facebook post.
