Dwoon 1st Gear August 19, 2008 Share August 19, 2008 At Mersing (Blue Coral I think) ferry terminal, there is a fenced up car park. You'll see the barrier at the gates. Collect a ticket when going in. Give ticket back when on the way out and the cashier will tell you how much to pay. BTW, don't park under tress... especially coconut... Hosaybo 6th Gear August 19, 2008 Share August 19, 2008 I would suggest taking a stright ferry to Tioman from Tanan merah ferry terminal. think is 6 hours. better choice than driving there and then taking the ferry. That is unless you have other detour plans

Dwoon 1st Gear August 19, 2008 Share August 19, 2008 (edited) Depends on how fast you drive and also whether the road is congested with heavy vehicles. When road is clear, I get there in about 1.5 hours. Else, better put it as 2 to 2.5 hours if you've not been there before and need some time looking for where the ferry terminal is. Since you're going during the peak timing, suggest you go real early to ensure there is parking space. Although the fenced up open ground is large, it does get packed. Then if have to wait for the ferry... just go have some breakfast at the building next to the ferry terminal. I presume you're DIYing this trip? If so, better book your ferry tickets in advance. The ferry service from Tanah Merah is no longer in operation. They already closed that service. Edited August 19, 2008 by Dwoon
Karoon Turbocharged August 19, 2008 Share August 19, 2008 its about 140km from jb but i suggest you give yourself two hours from after the causeway, as the roads are single lane and winding for the most part. Worse thing that can happen is you're running late for the ferry but stuck behind one of the many trucks that use that route.

Camrysfa Turbocharged April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Too old to be travelling alone . . . . http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/former-ri-teacher-feared-dead-after-going-missing-tioman A FORMER Raffles Institution (RI) discipline master and teacher is now feared to have drowned after going missing on a visit to Malaysia's Tioman island more than a week ago. Mr Tan Kim Cheng, 83, was on a three-night voyage with Star Cruises when his ship docked at the island on Monday last week, at around 7am, for an excursion. Passengers were told to return by 3pm but Mr Tan, a Singaporean father of two who was travelling alone, never showed up and the alarm was raised. A search involving 50 Malaysian police officers and volunteers has been ongoing during daylight hours, but after eight days, it has turned up nothing but Mr Tan's backpack which was found in the sea off Tioman.
