Vtim 3rd Gear August 18, 2008 Author Share August 18, 2008 Quote Whats a phenolic spacer? do a google to check lah it's a form of plastic that have high thermal insulating property lots of US forum car owners have done it for their engines. all stock IM are mated to the engine block using a thin layer gasket (mostly made of paper) and that didn't provide a good thermal insulation, heat from the engine block do get transfer to the IM. So whatever CAI you did up front will soon get heated up again at the IM. I did one more step, as advice by Smhomie , by spraying the IM with high temp paint, this will reduce heat soak for the IM inside the engine compartment when the bonnet is closed
