This is the Phenolic Spacer for the IM, it is slightly thicker than the stock gasket.

The Phenolic Spacer will be sandwitched between 2 new gasket before the IM is fix back.

Whats a phenolic spacer? blush.gif

do a google to check lah laugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

it's a form of plastic that have high thermal insulating property wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif lots of US forum car owners have done it for their engines.

all stock IM are mated to the engine block using a thin layer gasket (mostly made of paper) and that didn't provide a good thermal insulation, heat from the engine block do get transfer to the IM. So whatever CAI you did up front will soon get heated up again at the IM.

I did one more step, as advice by Smhomie thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif, by spraying the IM with high temp paint, this will reduce heat soak for the IM inside the engine compartment when the bonnet is closed Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
