Chrispie 5th Gear August 15, 2008 Share August 15, 2008 Are you guys aware of this? If someone spot that you leave ur car engine idle, and u left ur car for some time, they can actually submit ur car plate, location etc to NEA and you can be fined... champion. ↡ Advertisement

Magfocus 5th Gear August 15, 2008 Share August 15, 2008 Taxi drivers always do this..presumably to keep the aircon running?
Chrispie 5th Gear August 15, 2008 Author Share August 15, 2008 sollie.. never seen that thread before.. this type of rule.. very hard to enforce lah.
Fcw75 Hypersonic August 15, 2008 Share August 15, 2008 Tell that to those taxi drivers who left the engine running and went for lunch break, kopi break, etc. Just so they want to keep the cabin cool when they are back. And yet, we have to pay a fuel surcharge for that due to diesel price increase?
Chrispie 5th Gear August 15, 2008 Author Share August 15, 2008 I always tot they leave engine running incase the Macik comes to issue summons and that is a 'sign' to say they are away for a while only etc...

Holyarmer Neutral Newbie August 15, 2008 Share August 15, 2008 Anyway leaving your engine turned on while vehicle is idle is supposed to be poisonous for the people inside the cabin isn't it..
Genie47 1st Gear August 16, 2008 Share August 16, 2008 Why they do it? They tell you their fuel is cheap. Come on lah! Cheap doesn't mean you have to burn it off just like that to maintain A/C and koon inside. Wash taxi sometime they just keep it idling. What a waste of precious resources. If they don't idle the engine, confirm their running costs will be lowered by a lot.
Genie47 1st Gear August 16, 2008 Share August 16, 2008 Its poisonous for everyone. For all vehicles, idling is done with a leaner AFR. Lambda of at least 1. So this makes the engine run hot and when exhausts are hot, NOx are easily formed. Diesel less NOx but still produce more NOx than normal cruising around. NOx in the air can make smog. We created our own haze.
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear August 16, 2008 Share August 16, 2008 Yap ... It warrants a summon should someone submit one's number plate to NEA due to idling our rides for too long

Fcw75 Hypersonic August 16, 2008 Share August 16, 2008 Yes! That's my point. And yet we have to pay a 30 cents fuel surcharge as they said diesel price increased. Look at how they are abusing it.
Fcw75 Hypersonic August 16, 2008 Share August 16, 2008 How to prove it? Taking a picture will prove nothing leh. Video?
