Ak7887 1st Gear May 25, 2009 Share May 25, 2009 yep, min 95. Spoke to the maintenance guy in VW and told me no diff if use 98 or 95. For 95, save some money but burn more as the power is weaker. For 98 you can get better FC but slightly more ex. As for new touran, no news yet. Germany currently testing it. Probably a year or so will see the car, according to one website. ↡ Advertisement
Ak7887 1st Gear May 25, 2009 Share May 25, 2009 yep, that's the one. There is a wiper changing mode. To do that, you must turn off the engine and immediately flick the wiper stick and the wipers will come out and stop at 90 degrees. The thing that annoys me is that you can only lift the wiper blade up from the windscreen about 2-3cm at normal position. If you need to wipe your windscreen, then the blade area will be a little inconvenient. Just thought its quite silly to have such a design.
Paddie 3rd Gear May 25, 2009 Share May 25, 2009 Guess the advantage is the cleaner look when the blades are in the parked position :)
Ak7887 1st Gear May 29, 2009 Share May 29, 2009 guess u r right. Can only see a small part of the blade on the left corner. Need to update the car's FC.. Past few days, hv been shuttling from CCK to Suntec daily for exhibition. The FC has improved a lot. Now it looks like about more than 10km/L. Looks like my usual % of daily driving start-stop is higher than I thought. This car's FC is impressive with longer drive, but not so in city driving. Legacyb4 Neutral Newbie November 20, 2009 Share November 20, 2009 Heard the new batch has 7spd DSG & upgraded steering wheel like the new Mk VI Golf. Any other new changes?

Tzeench Neutral Newbie November 24, 2009 Share November 24, 2009 The weight is 1523Kg The purpose of the wiper to be kept in a groove is to prevent people to get cut when you bang them head on and the wiper gives a jerk when you turn off the engine. Last row seat belt will gives you some rattle over time. On 5/23/2009 at 2:23 PM, Ak7887 said: Am one of the guys who wrote the reviews of Touran in sgcarmart. Bought it in Jan09. Was lucky to get it cheap as it was a lucky draw prize :) Here's my update on the car:- Negatives FC:- 9.5KM/L (Multi-display usually shows 10+, but my calculation says otherwise). This is the most disappointing bit of the car. Specs shows 13 - 14km/L (combined). Wah lao, mine is far away!! After 4 months, some interior sound starts appearing, but not too bad. A tad slow moving off, unlike my last Civic 2.0 Silly rain wipers! You cannot pull it up like any other cars. If you need to change, you must flick the wiper control after you switch off the engine ?!?! Positives VW service, so far so good. In fact, impressed. Every visit you get a car wash, and a very good one!! This car is really functional, can't complain much. So many cups and compartments!! In general, the car performs & drives well, power when needed (95 octane a bit sluggish though). Most importantly, it has not bore me yet. Always look forward to drive it. Cheap road tax, although compensated by higher than expected FC. The VW looks..... nice too. No regrets. Looking forward to the new Touran to be out next year if I'm not wrong. Look at urban FC figure as a guide; it's more accurate as it reflects our traffic conditions. Even though you may be driving on eways, the traffic conditions could be as bad as stop-start traffic on minor roads. Unfortunately, this is missed out. Yet, this figure is the most relevant. For combined cycle FC figure, prepare to get the best scenario 80% on that figure. That is, quoted 15km/l on paper, prepare to get only 12 km/l. Kangadrool Supersonic November 24, 2009 Share November 24, 2009 (edited) Here it goes: Taken from VW's website. Urban FC is 10.3L for 100 km, i.e. 9.7 km/l. Very close to 9.5 km/l you are getting. Never bluff one. Always trust the Urban FC figure, not the combined cycle. Good that VW is transparent and post this vital info; most ADs just post combined cycle. For sedan/hatch, it is still possible to estimate urban FC from combined cycle figure (based on 80%), but for heavy weight like MPV, SUV, it will be more difficult as urban FC is usually bad.
