I think I know the answer to my question .

The 159 1.9jtdm is euro4/5 compliance so the raod tax is almost the same as the petrol road tax .

 

"Diesel-driven cars also include diesel-electric and diesel-CNG cars.

Special Tax is payable in addition to the Road Tax.

 

For a diesel car that does not comply with Euro IV, Euro V or Euro VI emission standard, the Special Tax is 6 times of the Road Tax of an equivalent petrol-driven car.

 

For a Euro IV, Euro V or Euro VI compliant diesel car, the Special Tax is computed based on $0.625 per cc for 6 months, subject to a minimum payment of $625 per 6 months (Note: for licensing period from 1 July 2008).

That's like around $3k of road tax per year.

 

Unless you are comparing the same car that's a 3.2L V6 petrol version, you get the similar amount of torque from the 1.9L diesel compared to a 3L petrol but you get better mileage, cheaper fuel bill.

 

Very few would choose this option.

Total road tax about 3500 per year. If you drive alot I wonder how far to make the money back. Of course must also take into account comparable torque.

I have all the intention but I am confuse by the seller claiming the road tax to be $1108 per year as advertised .

Perhaps that is road tax but the diesel tax have diff name so not included?
