Was wondering with the decrease of petrol and diesel prices recently......how come mrt and bus fares still wanna increases........??? [shakehead] Is the bus drivers salary or wages going to increase????? It's doesn't make sense when they are encouraging people to take public transport...... [thumbsdown][gossip]

gahmen will come up with some excuse that they do not support "charity" or subsidize or whatever flimsy excuse to help the peasants. You have all heard in the past few months that this does not work, that does not work.

They have no solutions to offer other than telling you that opposition do not have solutions.

So nobody has a solution.

Only singapore so called privatised bus coy talk about profitability and using increasing price to safeguard margin..

 

in abroad various bus company (not "single big holding company") throught improve their services , be creative and constant revise their route to compete with other offering or even MRT in order to prevent not going out of business....

 

It seems so simple here (increase bus prices, erp) .....

 

or even some have used to all these all along or

find these common since brought up in this cultivated environment of P@Ps.......

If increasing our salaries will lead to higher inflation and won't solve the problem, increasing public transport cost will also lead to higher inflation. Hope our government understand the plight of their people and come out with something fast to help us.

As usual it will follow by the lame excuse - "we'll make sure the poor and needy are taken care of...", and Pubic Transport still remain "affordable"...

If they increase the fares, but the services improve, e.g. shorten the interval between trains, improved connectivity even to more remote areas, buses leave and arrive on time etc., it might be worth it.

 

But it doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon. Only time will tell. Hopefully by the time the above-mentioned are realized, the fares haven't increased twofold or threefold!

don't worry. When comes to 2011, you will see many things reduce price, many subsidies, and you will get this unique economic growth bonus even if our economy is crap at that time.

 

Heck, you will even get free labour from your MPs helping you to wash your block below.

 

So don't worry. pay first, you will get your benfits later.

Read a reply from LTA public Affairs chap (think he is Geoffrey dun-know-wat) who said ERP is not part of fare review formula. [hur] Hence cannot excuse public tpt from ERP. [dizzy] When cost goes up, whether it is part of the PTC formula or not the cost will be passed down to somebody rite? Only talk-cxxk this LTA chap. Try to bluff men on the street...typical of our Govt, like classic GST is meant to help the poor argument [hur]
