Indoor plants for HDB, any recommendation?

hey, newbie in plants.

 

bought a few pots during CNY, mainly flower types but all have passed out..

 

i guess its my location, i dont have strong sunlight.. and probably overwater and overfed..

even placing them beside windows, does not help as my windows are coated with reflective solar film

now, they are in ICU (service yard), hopefully they can pull through.

 

i bought 4 pots of baby fittonia and some cactus.. i know cactus isn't advisable but since i got them.. then let them as it is..

 

i'm thinking of growing some more plants... but don't know what to go for.

 

i picked up a fern too, hopefully with the condition, it can grow well.

 

anyone giving their plants or seeds away?

no. the only way round is to have 2 pots and rotate them around b/w indoor and outdoor. all plants need light in order to survive.

minimum light , try money plant.

also not easy. You need to move it around to have a gasp of sunlight. Otherwise, you will see white moths infestation.

 

Sunlight is very important for all living beings. Unfortunately, almost all newer HDB flats are designed in such a way that we cannot see sunlights!

Good old Money Plant . . . Huat Arhh!

 

Last time teacher told us to put coins in a pot of soil. Stupid teacher . . . we were so naive . . hahaha.

Rosemary is great to grow if you like the smell and taste.

 

I find Crasulla quite difficult either over water or underwater but it's supposed to be the easiest plant to grow.

 

Also orchids only ever flower the one time even though I tried full sun, part shade, no sun and different watering and fertilising regimes.

 

Palms are the easiest for me.

The Parlor palm is great.

Think it's the ones I have in Singapore.

Very similar anyway, don't know the local name.

 

But in the not too distant I want to get some artificial plants.

But can't find any that look real at a sensible price. Anyone with ideas where to buy?

Not good for general well being of the occupants too.

indirect light only. they also like misty environment so mist after watering.

 

as our weather is quite hot, the soil dries up quickly. make sure you water once daily.

 

some varieties are hardier. get those shorter stunted looking ones. somehow easier to grow than the longer stem versions.

 

fertilise every 3 weeks. i use the liquid green fertiliser from far east flora.

 

they make good terrarium plants. growth will be very very slow but thy won't die (at least the ones i gave my family and friends. the ones i have all died )

 

above based on my a few good and many bad experiences growing them the past 2 years.

try on one pot first. don't me like me gey kiang, do all and all die.

 

that person waters the plants with the dissolved solution. not spray on the leaves.
