Hammerhammer 1st Gear July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 Mine is under TWM GOLD membership. Is it true that must go back to their authorize workshop for servicing? How much is it the package? Different workshop different rate right? Please enlighten. ↡ Advertisement
Sash7 Neutral Newbie July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 hi thr, i think my pi car is also under the same scheme. you need to go back to their ws in order to be under warranty from them they are juz like our AD here. my pi told me if i intend to mod my car better tell him first so he can talk to the boss of ws to keep my car under warranty even though i mod it. i think the price is pretty standard, is abt hundred odd for oil change. i think the ws workmanship is so so only, is becos of warranty thats y i m going back to them. mine is 3 years warranty. Marcostan 4th Gear July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 My PI workshop is not bad, first three services only paid $10.50 for original oil filter. I'm using my own engine oil. My forth services (20K) paid for oil filter, air filter + 20 labour. Some more, this workshop is very experience with all make of cars.

Loki Supersonic July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 Bought my car from Vincar but did not bother with authorised workshop or warranty. From the very first service until now, just went to my own workshop. Now it does not matter anymore since the warranty period of 2 years is already over. Heng, nothing went wrong. Patwong 3rd Gear July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 (edited) Hi, from what i understand, the warranty provided by PI is very different from AD. When AD provide warranty, some 'wear and tear' parts are also covered. For example, shock absorber faulty, AD will change for you, but PI will tell you not cover under warranty due to wear and tear. Same thing applies to air-con. If air-con not cold due to expansion valve faulty or condenser maulfunction, AD will change/service air-con under warranty. But not PI. Thus, i feel that warranty by PI equal to nothing (if no major problem to the car). Edited July 25, 2008 by Patwong

Sash7 Neutral Newbie July 25, 2008 Share July 25, 2008 i think there is different kind of warranty for PI. mine do cover all the parts like shocks, clutch and etc. but the main question is whether are they willing to honour the agreement to change for u? i do agree some PI warranty is as good as nothing. even some AD will give cxxk n bull story not to change some items. Patwong 3rd Gear July 26, 2008 Share July 26, 2008 hi, i was working in a big AD in the mid90s. And in charge of filing warranty claims to the manufacturer of the make/model. We would fill-up the man-hr amount and parts cost required to complete the repair for a specific job done and file a claim with the manufacturer. The manufacturer then paid the AD the amount for job completed under warranty. Sometime the manufacturer dont paid immediately, so AD must have the financial strenght to 'tahan' for the amount not paid in near future. Fyi, the amount could be in millions. I am not sure how the PI local workshop claim warranty cost from PI? And how the PI claim warranty cost from the country of origin that they import the car from? as PI dont buy direct from manufacturer. Anyone care to share? Boxster 2nd Gear July 26, 2008 Share July 26, 2008 I guess the PI pay a token sum or even none to the so called "PI workshop" as insurance and they get to earn owener's servicing. When handling the warranty some may or may not honor as there are Grey areas. As most PI cars are JDMs their major components such as air con comp and trans should be pretty ok in the 1st 3 yrs. Shocks are subjective. I would be more concern about recall if there is a defect design or parts
Hammerhammer 1st Gear July 27, 2008 Author Share July 27, 2008 Found out from the KAR website my 3yrs 60K warranty is $1200. Meaning that my PI pay them $1200 to buy the warranty for my car. Also there is warranty for 2nd hand car for same amount of price. But dunno what is the catch as the warranty cover is almost same as new car. And 2nd car is more prone to break down so I wonder why they dun charge higher? ↡ Advertisement
