Man City may be the most improved team in the BPL for the coming season, provided they employ a good fengshui master!

Man City embrace Feng Shui

Manchester City are hoping the Far Eastern tradition of feng shui can aid their quest for honours this season.

Executive chairman Garry Cook has had crystals placed under the pitch at Eastlands and symbols placed in strategic spots around the stadium following an idea triggered by a chat with two of City's Thai executives.

While the plan had nothing to do with owner Thaksin Shinawatra, he will hope it has a similar effect on City as it did for Tottenham, who carried out the same plan at White Hart Lane two years ago and promptly won the Carling Cup last season.

Although Cook's initiative has attracted scorn from critics already cynical of City's Thai connection, a club insider actually believes the move makes perfect sense.

According to tradition, feng shui releases positive energy in its environments and Cook, who was always receptive to ideas such as these during his time as a Nike executive in the USA, opted to embrace the practice wholeheartedly.

'It is like a Catholic putting a Crucifix on a wall,' said a City source.

'It is common practice for Christian pastors to bless the club and Garry felt this was something worth trying.'

Lets face it, ronaldinho would not have made any diference on the field had he joined Man City.

Probably in the club owner's pockets maybe.

I'd have to say they might be yet another Greatest Pretenders.

haha ok la, while i don't think they are going to be top contenders coming season, they have still managed to edge their way away from relegation. 2 seasons ago, they are always hovering near relegation zone.

The original team left behind by Sven is already not bad..they also signed a supposedly good striker in Jo..if Mark Hughes proved to be the talent he rumoured to be, City should not be too far off in the top half of the table I guess..I dun really think they need Ronaldinho to make their mark in the BPL in first place..I feel its more like a statement of intent on their side to show to the fans this club has the ambition to challenge the top guns by trying to sign Ronaldinho. I think they have potential to finish 5th or 6th this season if they play above themselves.. [:p]

The slide was remarkably horrendous..they lost 8-1 to Boro in one of the last few games..can you imagine getting whacked by a 7 goal margin to a team in bottom half of the table? I can fully understand why Thaksin refuses to stick to SGE for the new season..

Last night (early morning) 1st leg and Man City won 2-0......

As repported at ESPN : EB Streymur 0-2 Man C: City Spark to life

Mark Hughes got his Manchester City reign off to a winning start in the unlikely surroundings of the Faroe Islands

First-half goals from Martin Petrov and Dietmar Hamann gave City a comfortable, competent victory in this UEFA Cup first qualifying round first leg, seemingly making the second leg at Barnsley on July 31 a formality.

Manager Hughes will now aim to move on from this chilly Atlantic outpost to send City on their way to a decent European run - something their fans have longed for.

In truth, City were rarely troubled by the part-timers, despite a commendable effort from the Faroe league leaders.

City had the quality in Petrov and the organisation of Richard Dunne, Micah Richards and Michael Johnson, but should have scored a few more goals and claimed the resounding victory many felt was on the cards.

Hughes showed his intentions by picking a strong side - giving a debut to

The fact that they didn't get Ronaldinho already shows that their Feng Shui is working. If Ronaldinho come, sure flop.
