IDIOTIC LIGHT PURPLE NISSAN SUNNY

Was travelling along AYE this morning in my maroon car, transiting into ECP. From the corner of my right and rear mirror, could see this light purple nissan sunny cutting diagonally from right of AYE-CTE direction, towards my AYE-ECP direction.

As he tried to cut, he got blocked by a lorry in front and my car on the left. I have been going straight all the while, without any change in lane. This fellow got the gall to sound his horn and get behind me to flash me, and even attempt to overtake to no avail. [mad]

To him, I say what the heck are you trying to do??! [hur] If you cannot drive properly, and you don't understand the rules of lane changing, go back to driving school! I don't care how fast you drive, or how good your multiple-lanes-cutting skill is. [thumbsdown]

IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE LANE, YOU JOLLY WELL ENSURE THAT THE PATH IS CLEAR. NO CAR IS OBLIGED TO JAM BREAK OR SLOW DOWN JUST BECAUSE A BLOODY JERK IS ATTEMPTING A CROSS-LANES SWITCH. [whip]

Carry on like this and i will see your photo in the obituary soon! Idiiot who spoiled that 1 hr of my morning. [rifle][rifle][hur]

Did you mix up the colour of the cars in your diagram? The purple car is your Maroon Red, right? And the blue car in the diagram is actually the Purple Sunny.

90-95 km/hr not hogging right?

From the way the light purple car drives, only 2 things I can do:

1) Jam break and let him successfully complete his stunt

2) Move on as per normal and let him practise good lane changing protocol

My choice is clear as there is no reason for me to jam break, waste petrol, stress brake pads, spoil my momentum, support his stunt .... etc

Hi,

The colour in diagram may not appear nicely. Yups, my car is maroon red and the other car is light blue-purple. The road: 3 lanes of AYE eventually split into 4 lanes. 2 lanes to ECP and 2 lanes to CTE. I was in 2nd lane of AYE. The 2nd lane of AYE will eventually split into 2 - 1 to the left towards ECP and 1 to the right towards CTE.

he was not in 1st lane what. from the diagramme, he was in middle lane. Anyway, that fork in the road, lots of driver like to take the right 2 lanes and cut back into the ECP lane at the last minute.

if you were on the 1st lane and have quite some space with the car infront of you,its better that you speed up to close the gap or switch to lane 2 to let faster cars from behind to go.

otherwise it is still known as road hogging even though your speed is 100km/hr or 150km/hr.

we won't know maybe the nissan sunny is in a hurry to attend an urgent matter?

TS is on AYE proceeding to ECP, I believed he is on Lane 3 while the errant driver inthe light purple on Lane 2 on AYE proceeding to CTE when he decided that he wants to go on either ECP or Keppel Rd.

This is a Y-fork situation on AYE. TS is not road hogging.

Move faster in front and I'll kiss the car backside of someone liao. [laugh]

Don't think he's in a hurry. Most likely he was on the 1st lane of AYE and tried to cut back in too late. I tracked him all the way (through my rear mirror) to rochor exit and beach road area. Hardly in a hurry - he eventually moved to centre lane to cruise.

Yup, agreed. Not hogging. Before the split, he would be on the second lane from the left out of 4 lanes altogether. Happens to me all the time too, taking lane 2, and impatient drivers who don't like to queue up on the ECP lanes would cut in from the right.

anyway,this is singapore.

after driving,i realise the ugly side of many singaporeans.

when we are walking along crowded orchard rd,people will not dare to do funny things.

but when driving inside a "hidden shelter",many people starts to do all sort of funny things.laugh.gif

the reason why i think it was on the 1st lane was because judging from the picture,by the time the nissan sunny filter into ECP,TS car should be already fully inside ECP not taking into consideration that generally people will wait for a few seconds before they horn or beam at road hoggers, iam not insisting that TS was hogging.just quoting an example here.

You are right. One the street where people are not within their cars, they are more circumspect. But they turn into monsters in their cars.

Just this morning in the KPE tunnel, I was driving next to a city cab. We were driving side by side both sticking to the 70kmh speed limit. As we approach near the end of the tunnel, the cab saw a slow truck in front of him on his lane. guess what the cabbie did? Turn on indicator, and just inched his cab into my lane sideways until he eat into my lane about 20%. [hur]

Approaching this Y-fork is tricky. On AYE towards City, from HP thereon you may be faced with this situations;

1) mostly container trucks and other slow moving vehicles trying to overtake the innermost left lane for a considerably longer time. Not that they want to overtake one vehicle but many vehicles.

2) slow moving vehicles intending to proceed to CTE start to filter and occupy on lane 2(second rightmost lane). This prevent fast moving car not intending to overtaking but just moving along to slow down and follow behind. The point is from here to the Y-fork is still a pretty far away distance.

3) drivers not familiar with this traffic here who drives fast on Lane 1 seeing aboved step on it and suddenly, for missing the signboard above realised they are on the wrong lane take evasive action.
