Scion Turbocharged July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 This is not meant to flame anyone but I have a story to tell. I have a friend, A, driving OPC. A has been cheating with all sorts of coupons, OPC and parking mainly. His methods include the famous "fold the tabs". One day, he was finally caught by TP for tampering with the OPC coupon and was fined 10k for the offence. He was remorseful, but not for long. Today, he still tampers with coupons, but only parking coupons. Not because he is afraid of getting caught with tampering OPC coupon but because he had switch to a normal plate car already. Do you think this friend of mine has really learnt his lesson? I surfed a few forums and very often will see people posting threads like this thread. Many claimed this is the first time they tamper with the coupon. BUT i believe, they mostly meant, this is the first time they did this and GOT CAUGHT. Meaning, they have been committing the offence more than once, just that they got lucky everytime and were not caught. Many claimed that they did not know the seriousness of the offence until they were caught. BUT do you believe them? Especially for those who surf forums and know how to seek advice from forums. Personally, I take their words with a pinch of salt. Everyone knows that cheating is wrong. SO why do it in the first place and when caught, shows remorse? I do not sympathise with these cheaters. Instead, i, to a certain degree, despise them. Especially those who can afford luxury cars but can't afford to put parking coupons. And when the parking warden issues them a summon, they curse the parking warden and family, right down to their pets even. Have they ever give it serious thoughts? If they had put the coupons, would they be fined? Just some of my thoughts towards these cheaters. i agree... actually i guess everyone cheats, no matter big or small... just that some kena caught, some are lucky... i'm glad i was caught in cheating long long time ago... in sec 2 cheated in a chinese test, kena caught red-handed and given a zero. almost whole class cheated but only i kena caught... i damn regretted and vowed not to cheat ever again (i topped the class in chinese tests after that) till now, i still rather dun cheat... eg parking coupons, yah, maybe i tear the tabs ending at 9pm, but i come back to the car at 10pm, but hecks, if kena summon, too bad, i risk it... i dun consider this cheating... just a mismanagement of timing... but folding the tabs or altering the fuel needle is a big NO for me ↡ Advertisement

Chongster 6th Gear July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 (edited) how come same offence so many different fines?!? does it depend on what the judge had for breakfast? also not clear from thread but is he saying that he tear a new coupon wrongly, realizes his mistake, then scotched tape it back? if that's the case, maybe you guys should give him a break.... but i wonder if you tell the judge that, the judge will give you discount or increase your fine? i remember my regular PC in army got caught also, straightaway sacked and discharged. but i heard his case went prison as well... Loki Supersonic July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 Depends on whether you try to be funny and make stupid excuses. I suppose if you act contrite and remorseful and say sorry and that you will not do it again, you'll probably get a lower fine than someone who cooks up some stupid story as an excuse. Weixiang_2008 Clutched July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 The three main types of offences committed were Immoral Behaviour/Sexual Offences, Dishonesty/Embezzlement/CBT and Indebtedness. Division 3 officers constituted the largest group of offenders. Most of the completed Regulations cases in 2007 resulted in dismissal
Acemundo Supercharged July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 our system is such that laws are subject to individual judges' opinion. few years ago, there was a lawyer basher. he appealed and his sentence was heavier than the maximum punishment prescribed in our statute. many lawyers interviewed feel it is unconstitutional and rare. Brudder, Very sorry that you ended up this way. Hope you have learnt your lesson. Please be punctual on that day, dress decently. Get a haircut too! Don't be sloppy. First impression counts. Don't argue with the judge. Show him respect, bow to him if need be. Address him the proper way. Keep eye contact when talking to him. Just plead guilty, say you are sorry for what you have done and ask for leniency. Wish you all the best, brudder!
Mcf777 Turbocharged July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 If money can be use to settle problem, then it is not called a problem at all. Anyway, only 10-15K. No big deal. you can save the amount in 1 or 2 yrs time. Look on the brighter side that it is only fine. no jail.
