Besides automatic top-ups, the new IU will also come with several new features, such as displaying the amount deducted each time motorists cross a gantry.

 

Taxi passengers can get a detailed print-out, indicating the number of gantries crossed and where.

 

The new IUs will also help do away with paper coupons as they can be activated to deduct parking expenses for streetside parking as well.

Many motorist kbkp about their cashcards not working, so they hamtam us with GIRO deduction so no more excuse liao.

i'm more interested to know the one without using any card. end of the month send bill to registered IU address. especially the admin charge they going to slap per ERP transaction to allow motorist this convenience.

Not yet. Here's another piece of news from Raymond Lim.

 

In the meantime, the LTA is working with local company Quantum Inventions in the development of a dynamic route navigation system.

 

Drawing real-time information from LTA's traffic monitoring centre, the system will plot the best driving route, taking into account accidents, road works and traffic slowdowns.

 

It is believed that the system, now available over the web and mobile phone devices, could also be integrated into other in-vehicle systems such as GPS and map navigators at a later stage.

I am curious whether the new IU got in-built GPS chip or not. Remember the rumours of using GPS to charge road tax or maybe ERP?

they are selling these new IU at $150 each.

Auto Giro and credit card deduction?

 

What if some carpark readers are faulty and result in multiple charges? You will not know until you read your bank/Giro deduction statements, it may be one month later and too late to argue.

Its not convenient to get waiver from giro or credit cards, not forgetting troublesome and lechay!

 

Currently we can immediately ask for refund with the cashcard on the spot with the carpark attendent.

Is it two pieces, where the card reader part is hidden and while only the antenna on the windscreen?
