Sony 1st Gear March 7, 2009 Share March 7, 2009 Usually is 215 or 225 more exp? dunno.. you got to ask tyre shop.. few years back, they said 215 more common, thus cheaper and my 225 is not so common.. now I think quite a number of japz are on 225 already.. or rather, that was my perception from SHC

3C_ColtPlus Neutral Newbie March 11, 2009 Share March 11, 2009 Hi all bros, Me new here. Looking at a new set of tyres. Stock size 185/55/R15. Stock Dunlop Sports SP3000A lasted more than 2 years and over 65K km. High time to change liao. Considering between Kumho KU31 or Hankook V8 (V-II) What's da best price for 195/50/R15? EW or SB is better? How about in JB? Should I take 195/55/R15 or 205/50/R15 instead? Check liao: 185/55/R15 rolling distance variation against 195/50/R15 is -1.45% 195/55/R15 is +1.88% 205/50/R15 is +0.26% Don't wish to go back to the thin 185/55/R15 but rim may not fit 205/50/R15. Need some good advise from all experience bros here. Thanks a lot!
Sony 1st Gear March 11, 2009 Share March 11, 2009 The layman in me will tell u to stick and upsize to what your car manual recommend.. the numbers are there for a reason and it's calculated. as for the price, call them up to ask.. price changes due to supply and demand.. Acuravtec Neutral Newbie March 30, 2009 Share March 30, 2009 I have been using KU31 (Made in Korea) for 1.5 years and have no regrets. Just went back to the shop for tyre rotation and was quoted $78 per pcs before GST. This price is for 195/50/R15. Anyone interested please let me know. Also the boss told me he does not keep stock and will need to order. Finally, this tyre will last me around 50K km. Normal driving on normal sedan. Is this considered lasting? Frost98 1st Gear April 14, 2009 Share April 14, 2009 205/50/R16 Made in Vietnam week 48 of 2008. Bought at $90 per piece from Uncle Frankie.
Kelpie 2nd Gear April 14, 2009 Share April 14, 2009 I was quoted S$110/pc for made in vietnam one. At the end, I didnt go for it cause unsure about the quality. Many didn't know that GM has plant in Vietnam manufacturing their cars' parts and accessories. Though not quite sure whether they assemble or build the Daewoo/chevy cars there too. Orac Clutched April 17, 2009 Share April 17, 2009 As someone else has mentioned here b4, KU31 will be slightly noisy after about 20k mileage. My 3rd set of Ku31 is already 30k mileage and 17mths now. Thread left still a lot except that you cant see the ESCTA print in the centre of the tyres. On heavy rainy days, wet handling is still very safe. Dry road still as good but slightly noisy. Like to find out do you all change tyres when its noisy or when you experience hydroplaning on the roads, or when your pocket allows? Cheers Orac
Blackyv Turbocharged April 17, 2009 Share April 17, 2009 not fast and fix rules but can self set a few guideline like: change after certain time: 18-24mth (some will even say 12mth) change after certain milleage: 30K, 40K.. change when ground feel not to liking or tyre feel "harden"... etc... Furrynadz 5th Gear April 17, 2009 Share April 17, 2009 measure the depth across the grooves, if below 3mm change them new is 8 or 9mm thread wear indicator is 1.6mm height, u need double that in wet weather conditions for wet braking, below that braking distance doubles ↡ Advertisement
