Opec president warns no end to oil price rises

'The price of oil will rise again in the coming weeks. We have to follow the evolution of the dollar, because a one per cent fall in the dollar means four dollars more on the price of oil,' Mr Khelil, who is Algeria's minister of energy and mines, told the independent daily.

Hmmmm this statement only makes sense for car owners living in the US, but for Singaporeans there should be no increase at all in oil prices as the SGD can buy more USD.

Makes sense?

not true. cos when USD weaken, pple will hedge against that buiy buying more oil.

and when price is low, demand will go up and that will push up the price again.

If you pump four times a month, and you, by a change of driving habits, can cut that down to pumping only three times a month, you would already have made a 25% savings in your monthly petrol bill.

We small people is hard to gather a collective action against the big corporation, and they have all the backup in the world why they should raise prices, so we may as well start from ourselves by changing our habits.

Just like the attempt to boycott Caltex. It died a quiet death and the petrol companies are still raising prices.

Make the change yourself, don't expect the global economy, government, petrol company, or politics to change for you and the car-based lifestyle that you desire.
