Carndablues Clutched July 3, 2008 Share July 3, 2008 Every Saturday at the NUS field, there's a bunch of them who play slow pitch at 2:30pm....
Chucs75 Neutral Newbie July 3, 2008 Author Share July 3, 2008 any one plays with the teams in kallang on weekends?
Lmeng69 1st Gear July 3, 2008 Share July 3, 2008 Used to play regularly and competed every year at the Kallang for the fast ptich. My team now "disbanded" as most of us are now caught up with age and fitness. Maybe slow pitch still can, . I know a few of my team-mates are still playing at West Coast Park every Sunday with the Japanese teams after being "signed" by them Hvn't been in the scene for quite a while now and I wld guess not much local small teams left, unless u try to join the more "established" teams like SRC. But there are "pre-requisites" to join tat team. My bet is to go West Coast Park on Sunday mornings and make frens with the guys playing there. I am very sure there will be a few local boys there as well. The Jap std is good, can help to improve urself further playing with them. Glad to see a fellow Softballer here. This sport not many ppl participate.
Chucs75 Neutral Newbie July 3, 2008 Author Share July 3, 2008 hi Lmeng69, thanks for the heads up. Ya, its a pity softball is a game that is hard to continue especially after schoold days. Were you from X-United? Which team were u? Between i havent play for donkey years. Where in West coast park? Is it near the mcdonalds? I will be there this sunday to have a look, want to join me? Lmeng69 1st Gear July 3, 2008 Share July 3, 2008 Ah, X-United... our friendly rival team. Used to train together with my team as well. Me from Cardinals. Most of my sch team members went on to play for this team after leaving sch. We did continue to stay as a solid unit for quite a no. of yrs. Then slowly one by one drop out due to personal commitments elsewhere. Fitness play a big part as well though It's the other carpark at West Coast, nearer to the playground site. U know the one with the semi-round structure for kids to climb? Stopped playing abt 3-4 yrs liao. Cannot keep up with fitness liao la. Keep having injury here and there when going for training or competition. So decided to hang up my glove.
Chucs75 Neutral Newbie July 3, 2008 Author Share July 3, 2008 Oh the legendary Cardinals. They are a good team. still remember them guess we all can't stop time. Good to look back in time. Great to see you here!
Topgun7557 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2008 Share July 4, 2008 Hey man, use to play for Cardinals too way back in the 1990s. Still remember that training use to be an open field at Jurong. Those were the times...

Lmeng69 1st Gear July 4, 2008 Share July 4, 2008 Oh, Thomson Sec std was very gd back then. Matched the elite schs well. If I am not wrong, Thomson Sec ever won the B Div title before.
Guniang Clutched July 4, 2008 Share July 4, 2008 yup..they are trained batters....won champion almost every yr...
Chucs75 Neutral Newbie July 4, 2008 Author Share July 4, 2008 went to west coast JAG club to kaybo just now. Saw their diamond. Wow very nice. maybe even better than the one in Kallang. But their pitching circle has a small hump, higher than the ground. Guess they are more into baseball.
Lmeng69 1st Gear July 5, 2008 Share July 5, 2008 If got hump then most likely it's for baseball. You tried baseball before? Softball will be like kid's play liao. Kallang's diamond has not been maintained well at all. Even right from new. Still remember when Kallang's skin diamond was officially opened for competition, it got flooded with just 1 simple rainfall. Took hours for the water to subside. Memories... sigh... Chucs75 Neutral Newbie July 7, 2008 Author Share July 7, 2008 Any idea where i can buy softball equipments? Wanted to get a new glove and maybe shoes :) These days i go to Ngee Ann Poly on Saturday to play with the young people. They no longer have IVP. These ppl join the team solely for the love of the game and have no games to look forward too. Come down if you have time. 3pm to 6ish every saturday at NP football field. They will appreciate it. I wouldn't say coach them. Just to have some fun and at the same time share your experience with them. ↡ Advertisement
