SLA launches mobile version of online street directory service

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Land Authority's (SLA) free online street directory service StreetMap@Singapore is now accessible on the go.

 

With SLA StreetMap Mobile, users can view the online street directory on PDAs, PDA phones, and smartphones that run on the Windows Mobile Operating System.

 

Jointly launched by the SLA and software developer MapKing, the service can be downloaded for free from the SLA website at www.map.gov.sg

 

Users will have access to high-quality digital maps, which allow for multiple search modes by index.

 

There are about 2,000 buildings, 4,200 roads, and some 120,000 updated addresses in the database.

 

However, SLA StreetMap Mobile does not support GPS, which means it does not provide routing or navigation functions. - CNA/vm

btw anyone knows where i can download a free map of singapore for symbian S60?

 

i want the static map..i'm not using gps or any for of navigation..

Even if you can put the map in the PDA, I still feel that it does not serve much purpose as the screen is so small.

 

Probably would be better if the map has routing and navigation capabilities.
