Neutral Newbie

I remember seeing a video of CNG tanks being tested in FIRE... what happens is that the valve will release all the gas out, before the tank will explode.

So you will have a huge ball of fire due to CNG being released.

After that, the fire just destroy the tank by melting it partially. No explosion of tank.. no shrapnels..

Yeah if you look at the Brazilian example of a CNG tank explosion, again no burn marks on the body, hair still intact, except severe trauma to the victim.

Yes, I will stand firm on my point. The other CSI "investigator" thinks that CNG explosion in cars only occurs in labs.

Here is an excerpt from the Brazilian write up.

"The 3,000psi escaped at high speed, blowing away the boot cover and everything blocking its way. The driver was killed by flying debris (or his vehicle metal) as well as the Positive Shockwave (or Blastwave)."

Could be static electricity is common in very dry condition.  And most likely it is a LPG instead of CNG.  CNG don't ignite easily and the tank is reinforced.

The best part, the man in white shirt stand next to the explosion, survived and stand up and run off.  This is news !!

No body using of handphone or smoking ciggarettes in the petrol station, what had caused the left side petrol filling black colour car to explode ?

Beside CNG tank ? I couldn't have any idea what's gone wrong to this inccident   :a-confused:

22 Jun 2017 01:59PM (Updated: 22 Jun 2017 03:28PM)

SINGAPORE: A mechanic was injured in what appeared to be a freak accident at a car workshop at Ang Mo Kio industrial park on Thursday morning (Jun 22).

An eyewitness, Mr Sukhbir Singh, told Channel NewsAsia that he heard a loud bang and saw the victim being hit by a compressed natural gas (CNG) cylinder.

The cylinder had blasted into the air and struck the mechanic at the workshop called Esteem Performance, according to Mr Singh who was there to drop off his car.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 10.45am. The mechanic, a man is in his 40s, was conscious when he was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

According to a spokesperson from Esteem Performance, the cylinder's valve malfunctioned, causing it to "fly" and hit the mechanic, before smashing into the workshop's ceiling.

The cylinder then rebounded and smashed into the ceiling of a neighbouring workshop before landing onto a car.

The spokesperson added that Esteem Performance is assessing the damage caused by the incident.
