i work at bugis. bugis junction food court very ex. but if i go to rochor centre, the food centre behind fu loo shou, the coffeeshop near the guan yin temple, you can get a meal for $2.50. like the article says, hawker centres, coffee shops - not food court.

yah, if I earn 100k per month, even $100/meal is very cheap for me cost its only 0.01% of my pay. but if I'm earning $1250/ per month, $2.50 is already 0.2% of my pay leh...thats so what is their defination of cheap?

Definitely agree with you on this one. A lot of stalls maintain price but the portion really strunk. either you order the big portion or drink water to fill up. So I think it's another case of reporting the half truths or their so-call study is really superficial.

infact, i cannot undertsand how it will helps..??!! [confused] just a waste of resources...

imagine...

i stay around punggol and work around amk. i can say i know the places well enough and where can find good food at reasonable price, which stall sell expensive, which stall nice and not nice around the area i always hang around...... so, even case go around islandwide find a $1.30 chicken rice, i dont think i will bother to go tampiness just for the chicken rice since the cost of travelling already more than that and IF i do hang around tampines area, i dont need case to tell me that as well since most likely i knew of it long ago....

so, how is this piece of data going to help me, the poor chap?? [hur]

this news is meant for who?? think by MIW to SHOW US SG still cheap cheap. But fact is, this report not meant for us cos the cheap food rd our area we definitely know more than them. so this report is not meant for our eyes but for MIW to pt "there there told u rite" then price hike more excuse cos things still cheap.

They just wanna justify the inflation rate.

I had one economical rice meal at Marine Parade hawker centre a few days back and he fooking charged me 6 fooking dollars for rice, one piece of fried fish fillet, a few pieces of fried prawns and fried egg!!!! The food tastes quite good but thats besides the point!

little is relative...what you eat for a meal may be sufficient for a 7-member family in Africa for a whole yearlaugh.giflaugh.giflaugh.gif

Only handful are still cheap. Sure, still can find $2.50 chicken rice at places like Golden Mile Hawker Centre and the Geylang Bahru FC but getting fewer and fewer liao. When these old hawker centre go for upgrading (only matter of time), the prices of food will go up by 50 cents to 1 dollar.

Had a plate of wanton noodle for $4.00 at Lavender Sq recently..Only few pieces of char siew and 2 wanton..

Most food are selling at $3.00-3.50 these days...and no, they are not prices at food court..
