Recirculation mode not working

Basically, the flaps are not working (in my case, 1 is broken) so outside air can come in. What Ah Huat did was sealed up the opening and disconnect the wire so that recirculation mode is always ON. No more smell from outside. Total time taken - 15 mins, total cost - $15. Money well spent if you asked me. No need to feel like smelling poison gas when lorries are near you. [thumbsup]

I'm not sure it's a good idea to completely seal the flap. On longer drives (esp to Malaysia) you should switch off the recirculation at least once in a while to get fresh oxygen in the car, otherwise you will feel sleepy very easily. Also, by never letting fresh air into the air-con system, mould grows faster on the air-con coil and that's the source of the sour smell from the air-con after a while.

i keep getting outside air intermittenly under recirculation mode and checked the fresh air on-off mode is working fine.

Anybody has this problem with FD1? it kicks in to receive outside air for awhile and back to recirculation!

Some foreign objects such as leaves or twig may be blocking the flap,

Or seals around flap, usually sponge, may have degraded.

Since A/C is usually on preferred re-circulatiion made almost all the time, you can tape the flap down to kep it at " permanent re-circulation" mode.

Try setting temperature setting to 22 degree and below

Yes, Very easy.

Find the AC filter location. usually behind glove compartment. The flap is around there.

Aluminium tape works better than duct or masking tape.

temp was set at 22, outside odour sucked in while passing by a canal.

Been having this odd problem when I'm on the road: recirculation mode (usually On all the time) goes Off (can feel outside air coming in) and comes back On again after about 20 seconds. What could be causing this?

It is program to open and let in fresh outside air during a long drive. The reason is that you wont be breathing too much of your own carbon dioxide and feel sleepy.
