wow thats pretty high rpm to keep running at that speed. most be screaming and pretty noisy. I wldnt want to run that for extended time. I guess that's why they said there is no replacement for displacement.

what's the FC if u run 70-80% city/sub-urb start stop traffic in normal driving situation?

yup u r right...no replacement for displacement.

I travel on CTE to and fro everyday (can imagine the jam ya). And i work in tanjong pagar area. So literally its 100% city most of the time. FC is 13km per litre is not playing. If playing is about 10km per litre.

Turbocharged

Hi Kenmical,

13km/l is truthly unbelievable for a CVR....my NA swift also manages around that! [dizzy] You 13km/l is your best or average?

Actually I'm also interested in getting either a CVR or CPT for my next car, will be getting a CVT version since I'm more "family man" and dun track. Just need some occasional boost from the streets/highway traffic.

But I have a few question regardly the CVR/CPT hope you guys can fill me in.

Do you think the car is baby/kid friendly?

Does it have ISO fix latches for a baby seat? Is the boot of the CVR bigger enough for a pram. My swift can barely squeeze one and if the CVR is too small may consider CPT instead.

Is the car's rear bumpy and vomit inducing? I've sat on the rear of a swift sport and sometime I do feel like throw up, felt the rear is pretty hard at times. Just wondering it's effect on babies. How are your kids coping?

IS the car quiet by nature? As in if I drive normally without chionging will it still have the low droning sound of a turbo engine? (like those REXs on Fujitsubo)

I know it sounds funny to have a TC as a family car but I really dig the looks.

Thanks

1) 13km/l is very much true...provided you make sure ur right ankle behave. I drove an average of 70 - 80kmh max at a rpm of 2.1k max. I managed to achieve this FC for 2 consective tanks. Driving this slow to really test best FC. If i play then it will go down to 9km/l - 10km/l average.

2)ISOFIX not available in CVR because it is based on the old platform that also share resemblence with Merc A class. CPT i m not sure.

3) Booth space: You can adjust the rear bench for Colt but even when i push it right to the back i can still put one tennis bag and 1 pram. CPT no need to say...boot space is definately bigger, in fact much much bigger.

4) Sound wise: It is much quieter when compared to my old car a mazda 323. Even with AD07 the road noise on long distance is fine. If change to other tyres should be better. Morning cold start noise is very bassy but only if u high rev then the bassy sound intrude the cabin. Otherwise normal driving is fine.

I m a family man with a son too...nothing funny or strange.

My best ever is 12km/L for the CVT, averaging below 10km/L. Worse is 8km/L.

CVT also can be very scary and track-friendly. sweatdrop.gif

If stock maybe. But your family WILL get used to the bumps and hardness of the ride.

Pram is no problem, the problem is the other stuff BESIDES the pram.

Is the car's rear bumpy and vomit inducing? I've sat on the rear of a swift sport and sometime I do feel like throw up, felt the rear is pretty hard at times. Just wondering it's effect on babies. How are your kids coping?

Mine has learnt to sleep during easy driving, thrilled at the G-forces I imposed on him. At 3 months old, he has the potential to go far. drivingcar.gif Stock suspension setup is still ok. Hard is ok, bouncy is not.

Quiet? You can hear everything on the outside and people can hear your speakers from the outside. But then again, you will get used to it.

I know it sounds funny to have a TC as a family car but I really dig the looks.

Me too.

Thanks

You are welcomed.

hey Pocus

i just bought a Colt Plus Turbo in april 08 and this is what i wanna share.

initially i wanted to get a Lancer 2.0 EX GT but then when i went to the showroom in late march 08 my SE told me no stock got to wait...

then from the corner of my eye i saw the Colt Version R decked in Recaros, then i started to get interested and tried to psycho my wife to take a look and test drive...but she didn't like the boot space...

then SE told my there is a Colt Plus Turbo too... i was almost hooked...

154ps at 1.5l vs EX GT 149ps? at 2.0l..

save road tax save fuel...

went for a test drive but did not floor it, felt nice and comfy enough...

then went back to showroom go over the details and i booked it the next few days..

i think compared to WRX auto or the likes, the CPT felt more comfortable...just stiffer than the normal Colt plus...unlike the WRX which i compare to as tank like..

avg fuel consumption is about 12-13km/l with occasional sprints...avg speed 110-130km/h

best was 14km/l avg speed at less than 100km/h

i felt it was a good buy as the interior and build quality is quite worth it...
