Carlover76 Neutral Newbie June 26, 2008 Share June 26, 2008 Brother, if you buy from internet, you have to be careful and make sure that it is meant for Right Hand Drive as the old stocks are meant for Left Hand Drive. You can see the difference in direction for the wiper spoiler, right hand drive wiper should have the curve portion facing the bonnet and straight portion facing the windscreen and left hand drive wiper is the opposite position. ↡ Advertisement

Zeee Neutral Newbie July 22, 2008 Share July 22, 2008 (edited) heard there are two types of "silicon" wipers... silicon coated & silicon. depending on usage, the silicon coating could be "gone" in a few "months". also, aftermarket wipers are not made to car specific model requirements, e.g. curvature of windscreen, amount of force the wiper arms are "pressing" onto the windscreen, durometer of the rubber, etc. for me, it has been trial & error... in the end, i replaced with original wiper blades. i just changed the rubber blade minus the metal frame (not the wiper arm with the J-hook). the rubber blade can be easily slide off the frame if one knows how to do it. this is much cheaper... Beavc Clutched July 22, 2008 Share July 22, 2008 Anybody knows where i can buy Twister frameless silicon wiper blade at a reasonable price? Get the Bosch aero twin, they are much much better...i tried the twister and moon...both are crap...they dry and harden under the sun... My review - Twisters - used it before Moon - not good...dries up(and i park multi storey most of the time) Moon - One or two years back someone here intro the moon wipers - the worst..during a heavy down pour one of the wipers broke away from the arm...that is the blade part came off leaving the catch still in my wiper arm...apparently they are just held together by a catch and glue...subsequently drove with one arm and later the other snap also... Carlover76 Neutral Newbie July 23, 2008 Share July 23, 2008 Am I right to say that all Silicon wiper will have some wiping sound while those pure rubber wiper will be quiet like the Bosch AeroTwin? It just get irritating when the wiper having some wiping sound when it reaches the end of the wiping.
Elantrahatch Neutral Newbie July 23, 2008 Share July 23, 2008 I have been using Twister for the past 2 years plus and find that it's still quite ok. I park in an open air car park (work from home) and the wipers are still serving me well. The cons are: - Screeching sound if windshield is not completely wet - Slight juddering at times (but comparing to my previous set of stock wipers, it is definitely better) Will try the Bosch ones on my next set. However, personally i have no regrets getting them.
Rncw 5th Gear July 23, 2008 Share July 23, 2008 (edited) weeks ago, francis from entrust auto came to my place to help me solve the juddering problem. he did some 'spa' treatment, but days later when raining, it still judders at the right wiper lower portion. also, during the treatment, there are water lines on both wipers. he said that he will make a one-to-one change for me end of the month. i've bought the bosch aero-twin wipers already, but have not used them yet. will try out the bosch if the new replacement fail. but one thing is that, the after sales from entrust is so far very good. Beavc Clutched July 23, 2008 Share July 23, 2008 My old silicon wipers judder during the 2nd month of use....damn lousy....i am into the six month using the Aerotwin so far no sound... I think it boils down to the quality of the product....my take is wipers are essential in Singapore...just as you won't save on tyres...
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie July 23, 2008 Share July 23, 2008 Yes, I was using AeroTwin with no complaints but happen to try out another brand called the Crystal Silicon wiper which is given to me FOC, it was quite quiet initially but now it become a bit of noisy when it ends. I was thinking that it might be noisy due to the silicon compound used in the wiping rubber and I can see it really cuts into the windscreen cos can see the mark cut by the wiper. I give up and finally changed back to my AeroTwin and the wiping is no more sound and smooth.
Icejelly76 Clutched July 28, 2008 Share July 28, 2008 I have tried using different brands of wipers for my car. Most will judder after a while. For me the best wipers are still stock wipers last the longest. Perhaps it matches the curvature of the windscreen.
Dankoo 4th Gear July 31, 2008 Share July 31, 2008 Agree! Using Aero Twin too...good wiper...my original wiper price gap isn't that far from Aero Twin too...I got it from GB in Stream forum. 60++

It just get irritating when the wiper having some wiping sound when it reaches the end of the wiping. silicon does have sound but at least it wipes cleanly and can last far longer than normal rubber. no matter what bosch aero twin or whatever if ur priority is smooth n quiet wiping, then silicon is a no-no. my priority is clean wiping and durability and thus silicon is for me. i use with rain X some more . judder n screech sometimes but very very effective during heavy rain. NSH dun even need wiper ↡ Advertisement
