I'm sure everyone will agree with you that the FOREX difference makes up for the other 50%... hahaha....

I am sure you also know that the oil refiners and retailers actually buy up their own shares when they foresee crude going down. Because lower crude prices gives them more profit than higher crude price.

I never said they paid for the difference. I meant that they are passing down lesser to the retail consumers in order not to cannibilise demand.

Crude oil prices has gone up more than 100% since last year. But our pump prices increased about 50%+.... who PAID for the rest??

You are not correct here. The reason why the fuel prices did not increase 100% like crude oil prices is because there is also a gain in the foreign exchange rate where the SGD has also gone stronger compared to the USD.

Crude oil is deal in USD but it is sold here in SGD. So there is already a margin gain in forex by the local pump companies.

Surely you are not that naive to think that the pump companies are so kind to pay for the difference right?

How to continue driving with petrol keep increasing... :(

$$$ not enough!

Do you know how many people in other countries has work but can't go to work. Not because they don't want to. But the cost of fuel and expenses to go to work is more than their daily wages.

We have no idea how fortunate we are. My friend in South Africa has to travel more than 150km and 1.5hrs per direction each day to get to and from work. And public transport isn't even an option!

We should all stop bitching about it and evolve accordingly.... Change to a workplace closer to your home. Drive slower. Use thinner engine oil. Car-pool. Eat & spend less lavishly.... etc... the alternatives are plenty. The variable in the equation is YOU.

Petrol prices up by 5 cents; Diesel prices rise 10 cents

JUST one month after prices were last increased, petrol pump prices were on the move again.

Petrol prices at Caltex, ExxonMobil and Shell were upped by 5 cents a litre, while diesel prices rose by 10 cents to $1.933.

The latest increases bring the price of a litre of92-octane fuel to $2.203 before discount, 95-octane to $2.236 and 98-octane to $2.31.

As of press time, the Singapore Petroleum Company was the only remaining pump operator not to have raised pump prices.

which analysts have predicted that??

i only read news say by end of the yr will be close to US$200/barrel

very true, want to blame, blame the oil speculators, they are the main culprits contributing to US$140/barrel, if it falls back to US$100/barrel by the end of the year like most analysts have predicted, most likely the cartel here will reduce the pump price..

your statement machiam we are like pumping crude at petrol station leh. [hur]

crude-->pump involves alot other things like refinery, transportation, business overhead/mark-up etc which "added value" along the ways. All these, and the exchange rate differences as pointed out by bro Starry, explains the 100%/50% thingie.

Hope you now have some idea on it.... [:)][:)]
