Jonbummer Neutral Newbie June 20, 2008 Share June 20, 2008 hi there's one Kart World at Jurong area. Near Yuan Ching Rd do a goggle, u will not miss it. there's already another one at Tuas. opposite Raffles Marina. dunno if it's fully operational. but there had been an event there recently. 7-11 kart event of sorts. then there's one at Boon Lay area. within FICO premises, where it's for indoor soccer too. this is not ready yet. heard some whispers that Sembawang will have a track soon too. how soon, and where exactly, that i'm not too sure liao charges here will be expensive compared to malayisa tho. cheers

Freshmaker Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Author Share July 15, 2008 jonbummer, i would like to know how much it cost to buy a go-kart in singapore, brand new and used? thanks...
Jonbummer Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 hi bro if i'm not wrong, brand new kart in singapore will caost more than S$10K, about 6k for a good chassis which shld include a seat, and about 4k for a 125cc engine. price of one set of mid compound tyres should set one back at abt 300 not too long ago, my fren got a used kart at Premas which is of very good conditon at about S$5k. and the owner gave some good spare parts as well. but there are some used kart going at about S$6-8K too but at the moment, there is no good track in singapore. only recently, i gathered from some that the one at jurong is actually in quite bad shape overall. and the one oppo Raffles Marina at tuas is for private use as of now. it's for Singapore Racing Team with no Singaporeans (i think)!!! see http://www.xxxxxxx.com/news/news.php?newsid=1379 the one at Fico, Boon Lay, i spoke to the manager 2 weeks ago. permit from URA may or may not approve. in any case, the answer from the brilliant people at URA will only come in a few months time. in all, get a kart at somewhere u can actually kart. else, u may be end up storing a piece fine machinery at home. hope i'm of some help. let me know if u indeed is really interested in getting one, i can hook u up with some good people. cheers
Freshmaker Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Author Share July 15, 2008 thank you bro. i live very near to the one at jurong west / boon lay, where there are indoor mini soccer field... Fico u called it... and when i drove past, i saw a banner advertising it with a website. and heard from my brother, they have already started digging the grounds. if this one goes through, i might share and buy a go-kart with my bro cos it's really near our place. til then, i'll need your help and expertise. Jonbummer Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 most welcome, bro. that's the one lor which URA is going to determine if the noise level is going to be too much for the residents nearby if and when the track become operational. i have my reservations on it, to be honest. URA is rather KS hence i will not be surprise if it did not go thru. i hope otherwise though cheers
Freshmaker Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Author Share July 15, 2008 got this from the website.. COST Kart racing, although probably the most affordable type of motor-racing, is by no means cheap. Someone who is thinking about getting into kart racing should know from the start not only the cost of purchasing a kart, but more importantly the cost of running one. Following is a list of cost numbers as a guide : Full Equipped Kart (new) S$10,000 - S$15,000 Race Wear & Helmet S$1500 New Tyres (per set of 4) S$300 Basic Engine Rebuild S$300 Kart Storage (per month) S$150 Transport (per outing) S$120 (with petrol and kart preparation) Track Fee S$
Jdm77 Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 expensive hobby...
Jonbummer Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 hi bro, the estimated cost is abt right, as i had mentioned. tyre cost is spot on race wear, it depends. u can get some good ones cheap try http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...015&tlgrp=MS001 they have some good stuffs. and again the cost is close but can be lower esp when karting wear Do Not require Nomex, which is fire proof material just get something which is CIK FIA approved will do helmet, if u are not going to enter international sanction event, any Full face helmet will do. full face please, half cap is not as stylo and the speed of the kart will generate wind that sweep into half cap making ur head swing left and right, violently at times the rest of the cost i'm not too sure. as it apply to singapore context. but i pay RM100 per month for storage, RM60 for track fee, petrol is RM3 per litre so pardon me if i say it's expensive to kart here
Jonbummer Neutral Newbie July 15, 2008 Share July 15, 2008 ya, it's not cheap the costs he put does not include the cost of repair when there is/ are racing incidents/ accidents also, it's dangerous. in march one singaporean kart racer who also kart at premas entered in a competition held in KL. hung shunt. broken arm. doc advised him not to kart for a Long while... medical fee... but all said and done, it's such great thrill that you will feel alive after each practice, test and race sessions! Jonbummer Neutral Newbie July 21, 2008 Share July 21, 2008 layout of the Plentong Go Kart Track. it's a very wide track, which means overtaking is easier. there are the straights which seemingly can push the kart to ~100km/h i dunno yet, will try only this weekend
