UNABLE to get a straight answer from car salesmen, engineer Jenson Lee searched the Internet for fuel consumption figures for the Nissan Cefiro and Toyota Camry, the two cars on his shopping list.

He found official data from the respective manufacturers

It ran a Toyota Prius hybrid and Jeep Patroit diesel on the same route involving a mix of urban and highway driving. The Toyota returned 14.1km/litre, 39 per cent worse than its official figure, while the Jeep managed to achieve 13.8km/litre, only eight per cent lower than what it was supposed to get.

i always feel that hybrid cars are BULL

(edited)

Getting only around 12km/l if driving the same style as my Rio which gives me 13+.

If acclerate like ah pek (at the speed whereby a SBS double-decker bus can out accelerate you slightly [sweatdrop]) and strictly maintain around 80km/hr on highways. Can hit 14km/L.

Thinking of joining u to become property agent now also gotta think twice and thrice liao [shakehead] Who ask me to get a very small car that drinks like a 1.8L MPV [bounce1][bounce1][bounce1]

This means an average driver who covers 20,000km a year stands to save almost $600 annually in fuel costs alone if he chooses a car which can run for 9km on a litre of petrol, instead of one that does 8km/litre.

Din realise this calculation. My current FC is about 2L lesser than previous ride then I am spending about *$1.2K higher in a year cos of poorer FC now [sweatdrop]

* basing on current 95 octane petrol charge
