So far , I guess many of the guys here are proud of NS, and feels that without NS there will be no Singapore and no future to talk about. To exprapolate further, there will be not FT that wants to come to a dirty and poor Singapore.

 

On the day of enlistment, every Singapore male citizen is required to take an Oath, to pledge his allegiance to the Republic of Singapore to protect and defend the country with his life.

 

It is important to note that this Oath is to pledge allegiance to the country not the government. I may not like the government and it's policies but I still love my country.

 

So if you ask me if I will die for my country, I say yes.

And yes, I've trained my wife as well on how to fight. The smell of blood in the air is enough to trigger your

NS is a must to ensure peace. I will accept FT once the taxes for these FT are justified. Our men will protect them, they better pay! I suggest 40% income tax for non Citizen, and 30% for PR. Wanna have low taxes of 5%, pledge your sons' life to us, and give up your other citizenship.

 

And if there is no NS, no FT will wanna come. Since there will be no security.

But hor after being tru NS, how confident u r that our Army can fight off enemy? Personally i dun have such confident.

 

Anyway, for those who wish to invade singapore, u dun need big army. Just cut us off, n we are dead meat.

 

Being in the navy b4, seeing our neighbour's vsls comparing to our current fleet. We do stand a good chance. But we have to take the fighting to their land. The best defence is being offensive.

 

But I not so sure of our Army's hardware and manpower, so no comments.

My previous neighbour a FT whom worked here for many years ....

 

When his son is a couple of months before due, he send his bor back to his land to give birth so his son no need to serve NS

 

After that, he went back to his land
