Hi guys,

Know this was talked to death but I need to change my tires ASAP. Discovered a 1.5" long crack along the sidewall of one of my rear tires. Look at pix attached.

Went to autob*cc and was quoted $198/pc for the GR80 and $235/pc for PP2. This is on the assumption of changing the entire set. Both are MIJ. Of course the mentioned lifetime nitrogen, tire rotation, tire patching an ddon't know what else.

Think the price is alright ? The autob*cc is in Jln Jurong Kechil, quite near to my place in Jurong.

Turbocharged

How old are your current set of tires? You could probably choose 2 change the rear 2 tyres first to save some $.

But it seems you're being quoted quite high for 16" tires.

part 2 of the saga.

Went to church this morning and already got problem starting car. Finally managed to start at 5-6th crank, thinking of changing the batt. after the service. Guess what ? The batt literally died. Couldn't even start my car after the church service. tongue.gif

Managed to borrow a church member's jumper cable to jump start and after that made my way to Bukit Batok. Was actually thinking of going autob*cc to change tire and batt as well. Anyway, on the way (some where in Bkt. Batok), made a detour to Stamford Tyres. Also got the price of the following for my 205/55R16:

Continental

CPC 2 @ $250 each

CSC 2 @ $240 each

Actually negotiated a price of $1100 for a set of 4 CSC 2 + 1 batt. But when their CSC2 are all Y06 shocked.gif, I decided to give it a miss and jus changed the batt (Amaron 66AH) @ $180. Think the batt price is reasonable, but anyway, not much choice. I could continue to drive all the way to Autob*cc from Stamford but if they don't have the batt then I'll have to come back. unimpressed.gif

Anyway, found another shop in Bkt. Batok willing to give me the GR80 @ $175 each. Reasonable ?

I have been travelling at 70+kmh only for the past 2 days unsure.gif

Don't dare to go beyond that. Scared of a blow out at higher speed.

If you are still looking around and worried about the tyre blowing, change the spare into the damage wheel, the other option was said earlier. What I would do is to buy 1 tyre and use the spare to save cost.

Hi TM,

I am currently using Federal Formaza FD2 after failing to find replacements for Made-in-Japan GR80. Noise levels are on par, if not better than GR80s, after 9000km of useage. Wet performance is plausible for these tyres designed with comfort and quietness in mind.

Paid $80/tyre for a set of 4 in 195/60 R15 dimension.

The lowest quote I got for the MIJ GR80 is $175/tire for 205/55R16. Have stock leh. Autob*cc has it. the shop that I went to in Bkt. Batok has it also.

Can't change the tires. Cos my rims are now 16". The spare is still the original 15" with the steel drum.

for your info, I got a quote for Hankooks V8 at a lower price ( than your quotes) for 215/45/17 a few months back. This tyres have received good reviews from what I read so far. I wld not hesitate to try for my next replacement.
