Mas Selamat: Shocked and disappointed

I REFER to yesterday's report 'Mas Selamat escape: Detention centre superintendent gets the sack'. So the Government has sought closure to the Mas Selamat saga by handing out an assortment of punishments to the nine, mainly low-ranking, officers and guards whose security lapses had led to the escape of the terrorist.

I wish to express deep disappointment, shock and pain that in a national scandal of unprecedented magnitude and public outrage, it is only the little people who are held accountable and punished.

Well....be on the top...you will be safe...unless your deputy screw up...anyway even if he/she screw up...can say he/she is senior and experience and old enough to handle the problem....so he screw up....no choice....not my fault also... [laugh][laugh][laugh][laugh] The boss say you wrong you wrong lor...isn't it a fact or life....there is no fair system in this world....rather I say a good system is sufficient...maybe we fall short of a good system this time round.. superintendent not little people i feel. he's BG level, leh.

i feel it should at the very least go up to ISD head; but even though he is not sacked, i think his career as a civil servant will be impacted. btw, how come his name is revealed but the superintendent's is not [laugh] i think someone made a boo boo

i think WKS will have political ramifications - notice now K Shanmugam, the next super express track law minister cum 2nd minister of home affair, is very much in media spotlight.

I think the superintendent also has a very direct role to play in the escape.

Maximum security area how can just ask people to cut off a window handle instead of sealing it. I think thats y he got the sack even though the pple on the ground eg. the 2 gurkhas and the liason officer were also quite complacent. The rest only got demotion and reprimand only.

Anyway superintendent of the facilities is quite big already. Maybe LTC/Colonel rank in army.

To be ISD head, u obviouly have to be quite capable and trusted, so prob wont kana anything much.

U are right, boss say u are wrong u are wrong.

I think WKS has reached the peak of his political career anyway so it doesn't really matter much to him. He at most is 1st or 2nd DPM waiting for the next PM to be groomed. He'll prob retire sometime after the next GE anyway.

You are absolutely right, the point is where does the responsibilities ends....just the Superintendent, ISD head or DPM. We have professionally payed(pegged to private sector) people, however, do not need to be as responsible as the private sector. Isn't it nice to work in jobs in this sector.smile.gif

Like Mas Selamat was shocked disappointed that the manhunt has died down

MS only got chow keng NSFs whose expertise are using x ray eye power to scan the lallang....
