B4 implementation of IDAC, insurance cos has a claim settlement agreement call Knock-for-knock (KFK) agreement. Under tis agreement, if both parties involved is insured by difference insurance agreement, "victim" will claim against "guilty" party via victim's insurance. Tis is how it works:

1. Both victim & guilty will report 2 their respective insurance co. Victim will make 3rd party claims;

2. After victim insurance co settle d claim, victim insurance co will claim against guilty insurance co;

3. Only guilty lose its NCD.

Tis agreement was scrapped as every1 claim against 1 party only (during those days).

Current scheme is similar 2 KFK i mentioned above.

The following procedure must be followed from 1 June 2008 onwards...

In case of accident, you should:

1. Exchange particulars of involved parties including Name, NRIC/FIN, Phone Number, Address and Insurer. Take note of the vehicle numbers and do take digital photographs (eg. MMS) of your accident vehicle which can be included during e-filing of accident reports later.

2. Call your insurer's hotline for a tow truck or for further advice on the accident.

3. Report and bring your accident vehicle (whether damaged or not) to the approved reporting centre/authorised workshop within 24 hours or by the next working day.

4. Avoid all unauthorised tow-truck operators or repair workshops.
