Gurus,

I've gone thru the specs online for SLX265 and it only says Max 150 watts. Not too sure how to find the nominal power.

Went to SLT and bought a soundstream amp PCA2.260 and the specs are as follow.

Output @ 4 ohm:

80 x 2

Output @ 2 ohm:

130 x 2

Bridged @ 4 ohm:

260 x 1

So which should I choose? Choose output @ 2ohm or 4ohm? I have no intention of adding a sub just want this 2 channel amp to power up the front thats all. Rear is still stock. Should I mount the AMP at the bottom of my seat or fabricate a board and mount it in the boot instead?

Thanks guys.

Bro, for component speakers (& single coil subs for that matter), you don't get to "choose" which impedance you want when you're hooking them up to the amp unless you're using multiple units wired in such a way that you raise or lower the impedance.

For the SLX, they're 4ohm speakers, so the amp output in this case will be 80W per channel. Since the amp's a 2-channel, naturally you'll be running the SLX in passive mode using the included crossovers. The mounting location of the amp is entirely up to you. If you have sufficient space under the seat, then by all means mount it there. Just make sure the power cables & the signal cables don't run alongside each other to prevent interference.

i think u got it wrong..for SLX 265 Delux

Peak 150W

Normal / RMS 100W

Freq response 50-21000Hz

Inpt sensitivity 90db 1W/1m

Impedence 4 Ohm

ur Soundstream may not b enuff to power it.

do consider getting a 4 channel amp... as this allow upgradeability to control each channel

Hi Bro Apollo,

I am using SLX265 not deluxe. So 4ohm @ 80w, confirm under power liao coz nomimal is 100W. Any suggestions within the price range of 300bucks?

4 channels but the 2 free channel power the rear, duno my rear can tahan or not. I also go no intention of a sub becoz it takes up too much space and i dislike the vibrating within the car.

Maybe i can get a smaller sub. What do you suggest?

80w/ch @ 4 ohms is enough to power it. Not a difficult pair of speakers to drive. You don't even need max gain to drive it. In fact, 80w rms is enough to drive most speakers in the market unless it's some high end power hungry speakers. Using a 100w/ch amp would probably make it sound a few dB louder, that's all.

am thinking of installing csx265 too. was quoted $380. Is it a reasonable price? What is your experience with it? I listen to classics and vocals. No intention to install sub woofer. Will go with a used 4-channel Kickers though. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
