For Swiss Garden, book the deluxe sea view room which had already renovated. My trip in June I book the family room yet to renovate, tt was old and run down. Reach the hotel around 3pm and room is still not ready yet. Only collect my key around 5pm. Breakfast resturant was so so. Not much choice and too crowded. Beach and sea water was not as clean as I had expected.

Overall I will give a rating of 6/10 for the hotel and location.

My wife even mention she would rather go Bintan and stay at Bintan Lagoon resort which had better beach, bigger pool, less crowded and much better hotel service.

Follow the N-S highway sign leading to Kuala Lumpur. Exit at Yong Peng and into Yong Peng Town itself to the take road to Labis, then Segamat/Pekan Jabi. After that take rd oad heading to Bandar Muadzam Shah (The road sign will indicate Muadzam Shah and Kuantan - Cherating is just after Kuantan.)..You can also EXIT at Tangkak to reach Segamat but u need to pass SAGIL but dis road is very winding...From Muadzam Shah continue driving till you reach Kuantan but at the end of Kuantan Highway is a T junction with the road sign to Kuala Trengganu. Make a right turn at this T junction and drive all the way to Kampong Cherating..but if somehow you find yourself in Kemaman, please turn back. You have missed Cherating by a loooong shot..or you can drive all the way to KL towards Sungei Besi, Middle Ring Road II towards Genting...instead of exiting at Genting SEMPAH drive on towards Bukit Tinggi to take the KL-KARAK highway that leads to Kuantan (Local name : Lebuhraya Pantai Timur) but be warned, this highway is crosswind proned, so watch out for the windsocks indicators...

If you want to drive by the South China Sea...from Causeway, take the road towards kota Tinggi..the road sign would be Air Papan, then Mersing then Rompin etc etc..from here it is basically following the sign to Kuantan (this is federal route 3) but a lot of lorries uses this route so be defensive..

My trip last year... just the driving takes about 5 1/2 hours at average speed of 120-150kmh. But I took at least 3 pit stops average of 30mins each. If you take the highway route by Muadzam shah is easier and quiet straight forward but be careful upon approaching road trains as it takes some skill to overtake these guys. Signal right if you intend to overtake, 1 at a time.

Wah lau.... nowadays.... GPS is like less than SGD200 for a very decent unit. Why go for road maps??? It would be money well spent. Alternatively, go for a smart phone that has GPS. Though not as detailed as a dedicated one, it'll be good enough to help navigate w/o getting lost.

Before I had mine (like 5 years ago), I did the East Coast trip all the way to Trengannu stopping back all major towns.... and many a times, I had to U-turn as it was not easy to find the locations. What makes things worse are one way streets in some town.... miss the entry/exit and it might mean a big loop.... and if there's heavy traffic jams because of holidays, arrrrghhh....

I believe just a road map bought from book store will do. there are adequate directional signages along the way there.

I find the route improved for driving along there. Happy driving.
