Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 actually QQ not wrong, it's a yellow box.. it shd be those cars that are staying in the box. if QQ don't do this, then he will never be able to get onto the main road. So QQ is wrong in blocking clear traffic that intend to turn left towards woodlands.. but what to do, this is Singapore No, the QQ is wrong. The YB can cater for up to 3 vehicles, especially who wants to turn extreme right or U turn. But the rule is, you are not to block on coming traffic. If the traffic is jammed, then all vehicles on the main road must stay clear of the YB. Anyone inside it, is wrong ! This mean if the left lane is clear, then the QQ cannot go in and follow the vehicle inside and block the left lane. ↡ Advertisement

Fcw75 Hypersonic May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 (edited) If the yellow box there is ONLY to help those turning out, why do they need to draw the yellow box all across 3 lanes? They might as well draw a yellow box on the left lane can liao. It's obvious it is to help those drivers cut across the lanes so that they can make a right turn or U-turn. Anyway, this is a common sight around Singapore. I have seen so many of this yellow boxes like this and cases like this. Juz live and let live. Sure, do clarify with TP. I tink they should clamp down on those who stopped in the yellow box while going straight instead. These are the people that prevented the QQ from cutting all the way to the right. Dafansu Turbocharged May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 i have a question for threadstater. are there any left turn on red or left turn signal for the first lane (from left).
Sony 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 Not really.. if the QQ can move out, it means the left lane is not smooth flowing traffic. The gap only open up after QQ have move out.. so you can say that QQ become wrong after that. and the cause is because someone from straight going traffic is using the YB which they shdn't
Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 i dont find anything wrong with this. from the pic, it seems that he wanted to turn to the second lane(fron left) and was blocked by some other inconsiderate drivers who stopped in the yellow box. if he dont drive into the yellow box, firstly he wont be able to drive out till the next traffic light is red again which may take a while and those behind him will start to honk at him. secondly by coming out and waiting at the yellow box, he is allowing those behind him to come out and turn into the first lane. i dont think people driving on the main road will mind to allow people at small road to come out and take the first few lots in front of the yellow box. spare a thought for the other driver. all this are small matter and mind you he's not stupid Bro, the is another car in front of him but that vehicle has also turned out from SSSM. The problem is that the QQ did not give way to the free flowing left hand traffic and inched his way into the left lane much to the annoyance of the oncoming traffic. I managed to squeeze through before he stalled the traffic. The cars behind me horned him until his bumper almost dropped ! Cannot see his expression of his advance staged Uncle. He and his wife just ignored us !
Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 i think nothing wrong with this qq, as he/she may need to go to lane 1 or 2, so this is the way to drive out... if not he/she can never go out from the car park... Yes, nothing wrong if the box is clear and all lanes on the main road is already stopped moving. The point is that the left lane is still free flowing ! He inched his way irregardless of this and got everybody steaming hot !

Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 Replying to : Dafansu Post: i have a question for threadstater. are there any left turn on red or left turn signal for the first lane (from left). Yes, the left lane is broken up into two lanes towards end. One going straight up to BP and the other turning into Woodlands Road ! The left lane usually clears up pretty fast as most driver wanting to turn to Woodlands Road would left left.
Dafansu Turbocharged May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 so u are that car at the bottom right of the photo
Sony 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 let me answer that for u instead. there's a left turn lane beside the traffic light but then if there's a lot of straight going vehicle, then it's jam up as well
Beehive3783 Turbocharged May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 If you have been to Ten Mile Junction, you will see and understand that there is not enough space at all to carry out what you have posted if they want to make a u-turn back into Teck Whye area
Dafansu Turbocharged May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 for this instance i will keep to my stand that there's nothing wrong with the QQ. unless u are talking about junction that's similar to the one u see at kallang rd in front of immigration
Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 is it people on the main road never observe the yellow box? That is the problem with most people. They don't observe, so I also don't observe ! This is what makes the world more cruel each day ! For myself, whether in Singapore or across the Causeway, I obey all the traffic rules except for speed limit on the NS Highway We need to be more considerate to other road user to make Singapore road more driveable ! Enzomatrix 2nd Gear May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 I agree with your point. I stay near there and the traffic is quite bad and in order to do a U-turn or right turn, it is not easy. Not to say the driver really want to block the traffic, but if not doing that, how to get to the extreme right? I seen a lot of drivers did that, so just be calm. :) Either you stay at the gantry, behind of the cars also horn. Unless exit by Woodland road, go to Segar and make an illegal U-turn or exit again from BPP (longer road). At least the blocking is not way too much. yes, especially the u turn opposite phenoix lrt.. as 2 u turns side by side, with the amount of Lplate cars on one side, the other side can hardly see the traffic.. the mirror is like useless.. so blur
Cbx750p 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Author Share May 20, 2008 (edited) If you were driving up clear lane despite the jam on the right side and suddenly this QQ drives out from the minor road and block your path completely, and you still think that this vehicle have the right of way, I can only say that you may not have fully understood the rules of the Yellow Box ! The drivers behind me must be feeling pretty sore as shown in the picture ! Clear traffic but cannot move forward ! Rb26dett Clutched May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 This stupid yellow QQ driver outside Sheng Siong Super Mart @ Ten Mile Junction on the evening of 15 May 2008 purposely drove out to block the traffic. I managed to squeeze through earlier when the traffic was clear but the driver proceed to block the traffic completely. The lane at the back of me could cater for at least 3 cars if not for this inconsiderate QQ driver ! Dummy better go for a refresher course. Wonder if the Traffic Police actually book drivers like this idiot ? pretty amazed by how you manage to take this pic if you are indeed in the bottom right corner car in the picture. Josho 1st Gear May 20, 2008 Share May 20, 2008 Piang eh.. Talk about that U-turn!!! The mirror is useless man.. I dun even want to look at that... I think there's 2 dent there.. Often I just drove up and hog up 2 lane when there's traffic because to get left turn in about 10m is not easy! Haha... Anyway, people who stayed there knows so everyone are quite considerate. ↡ Advertisement
