Kelpie 2nd Gear May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 Partially correct. Because depending on a few factors too. As in all braking, Tyres always come 1st. If the rims are light but tyres no grip also no stopping power. Generally, lighter rims stopped faster than heavier set of rims. Regards,
Limitedspeed Neutral Newbie May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 If one were to roll two wheels/rims down a slope, one being heavier than the other, the gravitational and momentous force that pushes the wheels/rims down the slope, it would require a greater/more force of brake to stop a heavier wheel/rim than that of the lighter one. The lighter wheel/rim would also rolled faster. Trust that answers your question
Jl1500k Clutched May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 Maybe Lighter rims = better FC
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 (edited) Ligher rims = Better FC IMHO, for braking, i think tyres, brake pads, brake rotors .... etc plays a more major part though lighter rims would also chip in some help Edited May 17, 2008 by Mzrmazda3
Apollo 1st Gear May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 smaller rim = better f.c.
Terence_oh Neutral Newbie May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 is the above statement correct?Assuming the brake and the rims are the same sizes. Try this article. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/techpage.jsp?techid=108 Compares the effect of having different wheel/weight combinations on one car. The obvious conclusion is that rims+tires should be as light and strong as possible. Hence the $$$ we all spend....
Kb27 Supersonic May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 Definitely true. Same as you carry 5 heavy passengers..it will be quite difficult to stop in time. Weight is proportional to momentum.

Whocaremi83 Neutral Newbie May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 lighter rim is u feel car lighter , good fc no need step much . and can run faster . for better stopping see ur brake system ,

Whocaremi83 Neutral Newbie May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 (edited) becos the rims is heavy u hard to go high speed so will stop faster . it push the weight on the road . Edited May 17, 2008 by Whocaremi83
Ahbengdriver 6th Gear May 17, 2008 Share May 17, 2008 F$#king yes. Lighter rims = better fc, acceleration, decleration. in short SMLC also better. Thats why forged rims are so exp. Else get a small rim to save weight n $$. It is not advisable to get bigger rims/wide profile tyre unless yr ar has sufficient torque to use them. ↡ Advertisement
