A 58-YEAR-OLD man was charged in a magistrate's court on Thursday with using a bicycle chain to lock the steel handles of the glass doors at the entrance of the National Library building.

 

Retiree Bin Hee Heng did not give a plea.

 

He is accused of public nuisance by causing annoyance to the public at the Victoria Street premises on March 15.

He made news two months ago when he insisted on parking his bicycle at the library's pedestrian walkway instead of designated bicycle lots nearby.

 

An avid investor, Bin has been a frequent library user, going there four times a week to read Asian Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times.

 

Bin, who was not represented, told the court that he was making representations to the Attorney-General's Chambers.

He told the court twice that he was not an anti-social element.

 

He also said he had apologised to the chief executive officer of NLB in March.

 

He appealed for compassion and sympathy.

 

Bail of $5,000 was set. His case will be mentioned on June 12.

 

If convicted, he faces a fine of up to $1,000.

Why still prosecute, did not LHL say we must be gracious society? If I was CEO of NLB I would drop charges.

 

If LHL's wants, he can say something like.

 

"Sue him? that would not solve the problem?" but I guess this 58 year old has not got the correct connections.

It is half right when LHL say if we force Wong Kan Seng to resign, it would not serve to solve anything but WKS's resignation can also serve as a good deterent to many civil servants to set a good example for all to buck-up right? So how come we still must show compassion to WKS?

 

But yet the higher powers can choose to see it in a different light. Why can't they do it also for this case?

In all fairness, I don't think WKS INTENDED for MSK to escape right? But this bike uncle did INTENTIONALLY go and lock the library.

 

If we wanna blast our gahmen, we should be blasting with reason. Just picking up a fight at any opportunity that comes along doesn't lend ourselves any credit

It is not a matter of right or wrong or blasting the Government.

 

Just to recap my points.

 

1) This guy is an idiot, what he did was WRONG and Intentional.

 

2) Not blasting the Govt, but stating that they have the powers to look the other way.

 

What are you talking about credibility? And who is picking a fight?

What he did was to some other parties property.....how can he take action into his own hands?

 

Have you even asked this question yourself?

 

Firstly, let look at issue rationally. This farker is just trying to cause trouble.

 

When you are using other parties property and physically causing annoyance in the other party's property.....the other party had already warned him but he still persist.

 

Not that his action was done in the spur of the moment, he came again and again insisting that he should act this way in the other party's property.

 

You need to rationalise issue carefully before posting.
