Rm2s 5th Gear May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 I love my wheels but having a hard time keeping brake dust and what not off it. I normally use cotton pad and Zaino Z5/Z2 to polish the surface of wheel but it is getting harder (and me getting lazier). Anyone here knows if there are any mini polisher that is battery (or car battery) operated that could be used to polish wheels? I've looked at a few. For example, the B&D scrubber, it is actually meant for washing dishes. As such, the fittings are all not friendly to painted surface like wheels. I've also thought about buying one of those battery operated hand tool but again finding the right attachment to polish the wheel would be hard. So, anyone has any suggestions? ↡ Advertisement
Magfocus 5th Gear May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 http://www.sonax.com/sonax-e/katalog_produ..._product=436100 Currently using the above at the moment..seems to work well, wheels are shiny and repel brake dust.
Rm2s 5th Gear May 15, 2008 Author Share May 15, 2008 (edited) Thank you. But I am looking for polisher, not wax. Your suggestion is good though, never head of Sonax before. May be after I managed to polish the surface clean before applying. Is my question confusing? Edited May 15, 2008 by Rm2s
Magfocus 5th Gear May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 Actually its not a wax, its like a top coat over your wheels..it seems to be working, wheels do seem more shiny. You have to apply and rub it in.

Testa_ross4 Clutched May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 Forget brushes, they are never clean as there are gaps between the bristles, there is a tyre car mitt at autobacs, you wear it like a glove and you can reach every nook and cranny.
Bearbear1494 Clutched May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 Just an idea here. Get those rubber sanding disc backing plates that attach to a shank, then attach to a cordless drill. Use epoxy to attach velcro strips to the backing plate & buy a 4" polishing pad normally used on DA polishers. Voila, a battery operated mini polisher that is adjustable for speed. You can also buy various types of pads for buffing, finishing etc to use when needed.

Clubace Clutched May 18, 2008 Share May 18, 2008 Eliminate the source....get a brakepad with lesser dust. Ceramic brakepads give less dust.

Azrielsc 1st Gear May 22, 2008 Share May 22, 2008 Hi Gen2, Besides Mother's Powerball, are there any other similar drill attachments available locally? I will be using Meguiar's NXT metal polish on my deep dish 3-piece polished rims. I can't seem to reach the inner edge where the spokes & rivets meet the lip of the rim. Thanks! ↡ Advertisement
