Damienic 5th Gear May 15, 2008 Share May 15, 2008 hi guys, need some help here. I'm considering the above cars. I know the S-GT is out of place cuz its a TC car and the M6 is out of place cuz it's supposed to be compared with camry and accord. but based on price, they are ard the same range. S-GT:$87000 Mazda6:$85000 (basic model) Civic SI:$83000 Sylphy:haven check. I wish to look for a 2L car, auto, from AD. The S-GT is good in terms of power but the FC sucks. Pls advice on which will be a rational choice? Wat are your priorites? The Subaru Legacy GT is a very highly rated car in performance. If FC is huge concern, this sort of cars shouldn't even be within your consideration. I will suggest you look at the Civic and Mazda for your case. Mazda 6 ain't particularly good in FC, but it has got good handling and build quality. Civic FC is one of the betta ones among your choices. Nice interior too. But a bit pricey in my opinion vs its OMV. ↡ Advertisement
Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 bro, thats the prob, I dont really know wat priorities i shld have. FC, Mod, space??? I dont wish to buy a car just becuz of am urge and in the end spend alot of additional money maintaining/modding it. So i guess, as a rational person, I shld place money issues first n thus consider FC first??
Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 sylphy really that bad as in not worth the money? price for size n performance?

Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 all three of his sport saloon choices give sporty handling, i believe. pickup wise, shd be subaru>honda>mazda FC, honda>mazda>subaru road tax depend on cc.. i think subaru 2.5 liter. insurance not sure, but TC probably higher. but u want power, sure have to pay. bro, mazda really that bad huh? Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 So far u narrow down your choice based on price, cc & distributor. How about maintainence and fc of the car? FC surely is a big issue. If u want turbo power, u have to fork out more to maintain it. What are u driving now btw? i'm driving lancer cs3 now....so looking for something with better performance.... Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 i think after some consideration.... my priority is... FC, performance, interior quality plus features. the cars i've listed, all sub 90k. so anything above that dun think i'll consider....
Patience Clutched May 16, 2008 Author Share May 16, 2008 i tot of this car and golf gt b4...but all ard 100k right...hai...
Boyboy 1st Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 i never say mazda is bad, but the civic and s-gt will definitely be faster than the mazda mazda pickup is around the same as the current camry, maybe a bit better, so it's not bad already. minor mods can make some diff. e.g. if the air intake got some problem (long n convoluted n drawing air from hot spot), a CAI will improve things somewhat. but minor mods can't bring huge gains la.. u want power, u shd get a more powerful car. however, if what u want is to mod, then whatever u get doesn't matter
Miles 4th Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 FC wise, i think FD2 and M6 are about 9km/L SGT sure less than that. Think about how much you can live with. So, FD2 3pts, M6 3 pts, SGT 1pt. Performance, no need to ask. SGT 3pts, FD2 2 pts, M6 1 pt Interior quality. M6 3pts, FD2 3 pts, SGT 1 pt Toys, All are about the same. Safety (crash test) M6 3 pts, SGT 3pts, FD2 1pt Space M6 3 pts, SGT 2 pts, FD2 2 pts total FD2 11pts M6 13pts SGT 10pts but if you dont consider safety and space,... FD2 8pts, M6 7pts, SGT 5pts
Damienic 5th Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 FC and performance can nvr be together. No cars with very good performance would have good FC. I think you have to decide which is more impt for you. FC or performance?
Watwheels Supersonic May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 Typical of S'poreans mah. Want good, want cheap, want big boobies.
Damienic 5th Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 (edited) The closest that I think can have both (FC + performance) and not too far from your budget would have to be the VW Jetta(just only 6-7K more. but road tax will be much lower). Good performance and reasonable FC at around 12-13km/L. But do note cabin space is smaller than the cars you shortlisted (but negligible difference IMO). If die die must choose one out of the 3 you short listed, then I think the Civic would probably be your main consideration. Performance for this car I would rank 2nd behind Subaru GT, FC wise is 1st and interior I feel it is ahead of the other two as well(Mazda 6 probably is a close fight or abt equal) Edited May 16, 2008 by Damienic
En0203 2nd Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 (edited) there must be one that stands out in ur heart, follow the heart for best performance, get S-GT for best comfort and stability, get the 6 FD2 is somewhere in between, reasonable power but not as quick as the S-GT, reasonable stability but not conti-like as the 6 have u test drove them all? Sx4falcon 5th Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 I will choose S-GT. Will get M6 if the 2.5R model is below 90K. But currently can get only the entry level 2.0V model. CIVIC, too common liao. Buying process is analytical, Decision to buy is emotional.... Go with what you feel. All the bros here have given you enough analysis. Now is time to make decision...... Friendstar Supercharged May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 i tot of this car and golf gt b4...but all ard 100k right...hai... civic is really way too common i'll go for m6 anytime
Nine_eleven 2nd Gear May 16, 2008 Share May 16, 2008 the S-GT's boot is damn small, FC is quite high, u really dun need AWD for normal driving. mazda cars generally don't hold value very well... but otherwise the cars are alright Civic are common...for a reason! it's a very well packaged car. bottomline, i'd pick the Civic. ↡ Advertisement
