Best route from Kuantan to Malacca

Will stopover at malacca after 2N at kuantan. Which route is the best from kuantan to malacca?

 

should it be

route 2 -> route 12 -> route 1

or

route 2 -> route 10 -> route 1

unfortunately, the federal roads in MY are named this way..

 

route 2 is the EW highway that link port klang to kuantan

route 12 joins route 2 (near kuantan) to segamat

route 10 links middle of route 2 to rompin

I have driven from Kuantan to KL using Route 2 a few yrs back.

 

It's a mountainous 2 lane road filled with big trucks. Overtaking is really stressful, and average speed ard 60. Once reach the Karak Highway.. become 3 lane each direction.. can drive smoothly.

 

I can't imagine travelling all the way to Malacca using Route 2 type roads. Rather take NS highway. Even though is longer distance.. the speed makes up for it.

The last time I went to Berjaya Hills or rather Bukit Tinggi, I took the usual highway that also goes to Genting. This highway goes all the way to Kuantan but I did not try going there. So I wonder if this is the best and safest route there ?
