USA: New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles - Holidaying in US

Hi guys,

 

I will be going to US with a fren for 3 weeks next week.. Current plan so far is go New york, then Los Angeles (Hollywood) followed by Las vegas for 3 days..

 

Any nice or happening place that I mustnt miss?? Don mind flying to other states too... Any recommendations for accomodation would also be appreciated. Preferably not too steep prices for Accomodation.

When on the West Coast, u shd land in SFO, rent a car+GPS, drive down the Pacific Coast Highway

 

Shopping wise for Outlet Malls, can wait till Vegas cos there are 2 Malls near to LV (within 10km) and they hold the same shops and stocks.

 

Make sure your stay in Vegas don't coincide with big conventions cos hotel px wll be ex. I stayed at MGM Grand for USD69 (b4 tax) over the wkend.

Hrrr...wouldnt USA be a dangerous place. I mean penty of ppl there own guns. And crime rate there is pretty high.

don't forget abt the time difference when you travel inter-state.

 

think someone suggested San Fran. it's a very romantic place, experience the tram rides.

 

LA? the usual theme parks lor. and santa monica, not bad but i only spend a few hours there as I was in transit.

 

u may also want to drive from LA to LV. LV has some factory outlets. if you have a GPS system, there may be some yellowpages (e.g. for hertz rental) where you can do a search.

Since U will go to Vegas, don miss out Grand Canyon.

 

For L A, do go to Hollywood Bullavard, don miss Disneyland also.

No need...I have been to US quite afew times and each time, just show the car rental coy my Sg driving licence. This 'new' one we have with our photo on it is more than sufficient. No need for International Licence...waste of time and money.

No lah...nobody ask u to wander into unfriendly looking neighbourhoods. It is a myth abt the crime rates. LA and NY have shed their crime ridden status.

 

My only peeve is that subtle racism is still very obvious, Australia cities (the cosmopolitan areas) does better in this aspect. Pauline Hanson was a good thing for Aussie on hindsight.

For tourists, they accept S'pore licence. I got my ride from alamo.

 

The GPS is pretty critical if u going long distances. (really peifu those grapple with multiple maps when gg across multiple states.)

But i did a search on youtube video on robbery. There are lots cases on USA, both nite & the broad day-light robbery lei.

Saw a documentary in Discovery Channel. There was this patrol car stopping a car whom was slightly over-speeding. Guess what, they actually chance upon drugs, penty of money and even a gun on this innocent looking young man!!!!!!

 

Image they do a major block and check every car!!!!!!
