Tommisan 4th Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 I dont think you need such high tyre pressure for V12, though this could be very much tyre size dependent. I am on 205/45/16 and pump to 230 front, 220 rear. I was previously on Ventus Sport (K104), V12 was definitely a good replacement. I had nails on two of my rear tyres, after having the K104 for 33000km. Wanted to just replace two, but realised bad alignment had caused the front tyres to have uneven wear. In the end, replaced all four and had alignment rechecked. It must have been my regular servicing where I had requested the workshop to check my absorbers, thus alignment was off ever since. Anyway, I had just scrubbed in the tyres at about 500km, it is definitely quieter than expected, but I am not sure if this low noise will remain throughout. The V12 does cut water well, anyone knows how V12 will fare against Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric or the Bridgestone Potenza RE001 Adrenalin? I almost wanted to go for RE001. Civic6656 1st Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 (edited) Ya man i thot so too but that's the advice from the guys there. I pumped 230 for my ER30. I think i'll just reduce to 240 maybe. What diff does it make to pump xtra 10 in front? To compensate engine weight? Are you drivin M3SP? Thot the rite size supposed to be 205/55/16? Tommisan 4th Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 Yes, the extra 10 in the front is to take in account of the weight in the engine bay.
Civic6656 1st Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 Hmm...okie i'll try doing 240 for front and 230 for rear then.
Tommisan 4th Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 I am driving a Mazda 2, pre FL. :) It came with 15 inch, 50-55/195? I can't remember exactly anymore.

Tommisan 4th Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 It is a must to check for alignment when you replace old with new tyres.

Tommisan 4th Gear December 11, 2008 Share December 11, 2008 Incorrect alignment settings will usually result in more rapid tire wear. Therefore, alignment should be checked whenever new tires or suspension components are installed, and any time unusual tire wear patterns appear. Alignment should also be checked after the vehicle has encountered a major road hazard or curb. You would want your tyres to last sufficiently long before there is a need to change them, hence checking alignment will ensure your tyres have even tyre wear to prolong its lifespan. Squareone Neutral Newbie December 15, 2008 Share December 15, 2008 I am contemplating either hankook V12 or V8 for my ER30 replacement. would V8 be more comfort, less noisy & reasonable dry & wet grip?
Civic6656 1st Gear December 21, 2008 Share December 21, 2008 Yes, V8RS is less noisy. Grip is as good. I changed mine to V12 and my friend V8. Both same car model. Compared both and finds V8 less noisy. Go for it!
Orablue 1st Gear December 27, 2008 Share December 27, 2008 ... But take note that as V12 is performance tire, you got to pump 250. ... to be more accurate, V12 215/45/17 is an "extra load" tyre... you can check your side wall to confirm. some tyres are extra load some are not, so you need to know which one you are using. For extra load tyres, you need at approximate 40kpa to support the equivalent load. the tyre is designed this way. for those who inflated it at 220, you'll feel that its sidewall is too soft and that's because its under-inflated. Dfx16 6th Gear December 27, 2008 Share December 27, 2008 (edited) Taking about pumping extra kpa then factory recommended I did a study today and this is what i noticed Today after crossing a pool of water @ mscp I alighted and studied the contact with the surface Mine V12Evo 195/55/15, i pumped 240 (F) 220 ( R ) Whereas factory recommended 230 (F) 210 ( R ) as for my ride 15" The contacted surface is about 90% Takenote as my tyres is cold at that point of time as i had not even travelled more than 20m Some here suggested pumping quite a fair bit extra 20kpa or more than recommended I'm quite puzzle why? Can enlighten me? Thx Edited December 27, 2008 by Dfx16
Maverick1975 Neutral Newbie December 28, 2008 Share December 28, 2008 what do you mean by extra load??means the tyre is heavier??
Orablue 1st Gear December 28, 2008 Share December 28, 2008 (edited) what do you mean by extra load?? very simply, these tyres are designed to carry more weight before they burst. Like ballon, some you blow one-two times it burst, others blow until want to die still small small soft soft. Original equipment tyres are typically standard non-extra load types. Check out the tyre manufacturer website and you'll see that some sizes are marked with XL, some not. also very simply, why XL tyres requires higher pressure? the tyre manufacturers said so... Car manufacturer tyre pressure recommendation is for standard tyre (unless you are driving exotic cars which has special tyres, then different story liao) An interesting article on air pressure & load index Air pressure & load index Part 3 - Extra Load / Reinforced Tyres Edited December 28, 2008 by Orablue
Forummer Neutral Newbie December 28, 2008 Share December 28, 2008 I changed my ER30 after traveling 38kkm. Damn noisy and starting to lose grip. I felt it during raining days... especially braking. But take note that as V12 is performance tire, you got to pump 250. Was driving under heavy rain earlier this afternoon, V12 cuts pools of water like knife! I'm surprised! Is V12 a square edge tyre or round edge tyre? Does it come with rim protector?
