Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 10, 2008 Share May 10, 2008 I am wondering how often should I replace the oxygen sensors. I known that as the oxygen sensors aged, fuel consumption will deteriorate. What is a good replacement interval assuming that there is no equipment available to check the oxygen sensors. ↡ Advertisement

Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 10, 2008 Author Share May 10, 2008 Of course, if you clean regularly at every 50K , can use for very very very long time. This sorts of remind me of people cleaning and regapping their spark plugs in the past.

Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 11, 2008 Author Share May 11, 2008 Yes,one is at the exhaust manifold, some cars have another further down the exhaust system. It looks kind of like a spark plug shaped device from outside.

Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 11, 2008 Author Share May 11, 2008 When the Check engine light comes on, it is really high time to change. Delaying is asking for trouble.
Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 11, 2008 Author Share May 11, 2008 Why it is strange to have sensor fouling after so little mileage? Your car must have been heavily modified.
Garlic 1st Gear May 11, 2008 Share May 11, 2008 Is this known as air/fuel sensor as well or is it another thing?
Siyexcalibur Neutral Newbie May 11, 2008 Author Share May 11, 2008 No it is not the air/fuel mixture ratio sensor, it is just the oxygen sensor which senses the amount of oxygen in the exhaust.
Imuya Clutched May 11, 2008 Share May 11, 2008 It's the same thing. But properly known as oxygen sensor. Sensing the amount of oxygen left over in the exhaust will tell you the AFR.
Watwheels Supersonic May 11, 2008 Share May 11, 2008 The question to ask is what should I do with my car when fuel prices hit $10 per liter. ↡ Advertisement
