Road Trip to Ipoh

Below 6 hrs to Ipoh is doable. I did once just before CNY in about 5hr 40min, includsive of 3 stops. Practically crising all the way, light traffic, especially when approaching KL part.

Bercham has some nice food. One can go to 城中城, the local hawker centre. The 冷甲包 when eaten xioxio is really nice.  [laugh]

Hypersonic

My regular Klang BKT haunt. Tried a few other shops in Klang but this remains my favourite but if you like the dry type, there is another joint that may be better.

Four Eyes? Never try before, maybe next trip. Thanks for sharing.

this one always full house and crowded with people waiting....

Yes, need to go early, once lunch hours, it is freaking hot but they recently expanded to the shop next door and knocked down some internal walls, so ventilation is slightly better these days.

I love their soup base, herbal yet sweet tasting, just don't ask too much about Malaysian porks and their healthcare and dietary regime. Still my long time favourite for BKT, put our peppery BKT to shame (in case I get shot at, ok, taste is individual and highly subjective).

There's a stretch, headed to Penang, right outside Ipoh that is very smooth and wide. Perfect for opening up the V8 :a-fun:

Ya, heading north, from road marker 300 onwards. Nice stretch with wide gentle curves.

Although the 30km before is quite light in traffic, the road surface is very hard, rough & noisy.

Regarding E35, I don't recall seeing any petrol stations signs on the big boardings for 2 RnR that I drove pass. So, anyone thinking of taking this route, remember to make sure u have enough fuel in your tank.

worse come to worse, buy from those road side stalls selling petrol in F&N glass bottles. [laugh] I remember seeing those in Langkawi many years back.

Years ago, When I first saw these bottles on racks by roadside, thought those were bootleg liquor. Lol...

Commonly seen in Indonesia & Thailand.

when you are in Autobahn ... 200kmph also in the slow lane

respect [thumbsup]

Wish all SG drivers can take this advise. Also, KEEP LEFT UNLESS OVERTAKING -- this is traffic rule and is written clearly on the road signs in case you cannot read Bahasa Melayu - IKUT KIRI KECUALI MEMOTONG. In case you are blind, please do not drive, take plane.

ah ok. Then zooming into Ipoh - the old town area has a lot of one-way streets and that makes navigating for non-locals abit more difficult, unless using GPS.

Also the roundabouts are sometimes a bit messy when traffic is high, so do take extra care there.

Look out for huge speed bumps in front of schools

Probably same fruit that my guide explained; that the  name of Borobodur came from this tree. I didn't pay attention to details but vaguely recalled him mentioning about medicinal properties of this fruit.

So, did the consumption of this fruit work on your FIL?

Sorry for the late reply.

This is what happen when my FIL took 2 times this 'wen sian guo'

He cleared a lot black black wc then, actually we need 5 to 7 but managed only to get only 2 then.

The way we cook is also not correct - we used metal knife and metal pot to cook.

To those who may have  to use this fruit in future.

Wash the fruit and put in a big plastic bag, use a wooden pole to break the fruit into pieces.

Use a clay pot or glass pot to cook - No metal should come into contact with this fruit.

The fruit is milky white but after cooking the water is black.

Please note that not everyone's response to a certain herb may not be the same.

To understand/clarify your report on this fruit:

Did your FIL passed black stools before or after consuming this fruit?

Was his illness cured after taking this fruit?

Or was it in conjunction with other treatments, eg., medicines and/or surgery ?
