May 8, 2008 Man jailed 3 weeks for assaulting bus driver

A BUS commuter was sentenced to three weeks' jail today for assaulting a bus driver.

 

Muhamad Fairus Abu Bakar, 32, pleaded guilty to punching the head of Mr Wong Hing Keong, 44, and kicking his body along Moulmein Road on June 6 last year.

 

A court heard that several passengers were boarding SBS 124 in front of Hotel 81 when Mr Wong told Fairus, who was smoking and chatting with a friend, to hurry.

 

After the two had boarded the bus, Mr Wong heard Fairus utter vulgarities.

 

When the victim asked Fairus what he had said, the accused stood up and kicked the driver's cabin door. A quarrel ensued.

 

Mr Wong stopped along Moulmein Road and the quarrel continued.

 

Fairus punched the victim on the head and kicked his body. He also pulled his uniform.

 

He could have been jailed for up to one year and/or fined up to $1,000.

What do you think this defence can work or not - pleading hallucination, the accused tell the judge he only saw a aeroplane buzzing infront of him. Irated he try to beat the aeroplane - ta fei zhi. Then realised its a man actually.

What that interest me is what's the difference betwen this case and that of the AngMo sailor that puched a guy at (IIRC) Wheelock Place carpark ....

 

How is it that this guy here can be jailed and the AngMo sailor was not even jailed for a day?

sollie u got the facts wrong again.. it'ss the local driver who throw his face and try to headbutt at the angmor's fist. they sud jail the local driver.
