The best way to fight an FT on your turf!

There has been so much talk and many views ( some outright saying the FTs are out to 'kill them' in the working world ) in the recent weeks

Actually this issue has come to a boiling point, where the contention of the locals striking out to fight for a living, are that the FTs are simply fighting tooth abnd nail for their rice bowl ( cost of actual rice is rising anyway! [:/] ) and the locals are blaming the gov for 'allowing' this to happen in face of the rapidly rising cost of living.

Many locals from the experienced and skilled to the relatively skilled are now facing a wake-up call and is taking a hit right in their face on their own turf.

Many after having acquired many degrees/certs find that these amount to nothing in competing for jobs against an FT!

Many views having been expressed in this forums and others..shows that the FTs will continue to flood the work market whether you like it or not!

What then is the best way to tackle the FTs coming into your employment market to compete head on with you?

Let's the fact be that this should remain as a free market without much intervention by the authorities to protect the local workers.

1) Take nothing for granted...make sure all openings or small windows in toilets are grilled or permenantly closed ! [sly][laugh]

2) FT is not a recent thing....but a major cxck-up of letting someone of terror to escape is! [laugh]

3) FTs have been around since many many moons ago.....So is the trend of paying the MIW BIGGER and BIGGER pay checks! [:(]

4) Those that just woke up is complacent.....Of course, it is easier to blame it on them than to have the one in charge to take the shxt! [sly][laugh]

5) Thinking FT will not replace them...some ppl would not want to be replaced...simply becos they JUST WOULDN'T QUIT even when the masses call upon 'him' to do so! [laugh][laugh]

It is the employer's choice....if they get the best of both world from an FT...cheaper and more willing to work...the discrimination factor would not appear to be much of a weapon of choice the locals have.

Unless, the locals goes to the extent of lowering his expectations$$$ to match that of an FT to start off with.

But with the standard of living here....can this even be a choice for the locals?

Neutral Newbie
All of us renting out their properties to FTs can probably raise their rents until it becomes unbearable for them.

The best way is to make yourself more valuable to your company, adapt, change. We should review our attitude and behaviour before putting the blame on others.

Races and nationality aside, why are the FT so strong and tough? unimpressed.gif

They don't need creature comfort to survive.

They don't have much commitment like HDB or car to finance, just their rental room in a flat

They eat $2 economical rice to get through while we treat eating as a hobby.

Some FT cycle to work. Drive along 40 tiang on a Sunday evening and you can see mama and other FT walk from Ah Mah Keng to Jurong west to buy grocery! shocked.gif That's at least 5~6 km! sweatdrop.gif

Their shoes got hole liao still wear we need at least 3 pairs 1xwork 1xsports 1xslippers, theirs is multipurpose all terrain all occasion shoes laugh.gif

Some SGP no money still wanna buy 4D lipsrsealed.gif

Aiya... I think our life too shiok liao. not like last time I need to walk 25 minutes to the nearest bus stop to go to school in a single door bus packed like sardine. shakehead.gif

Actually there are a lot of items which are cheaper to own or can be afforded now then before.

EG.

Last time (1970s) how many can afford a car?

Last time (1970s) only 1 TV per 5 household in my neighbourhood. I had to watch B&W TV everynight at neighbour's place.

Last time (1999) my car COE is $59,000 and now only $18,000 people comprain.

Last time water bottle phone cost $3000.

Last time wear Panda shoe to school. Nike or Converse can only dream or unheard of. Now like very affordable hor.

Last time drive a 1000cc car consider very fortunate liao now 1,600cc people comprain no power.

Last time wear Casio digital watch consider high tech liao.

Last time whenever rain means from coronation to upper bukit timah road flood and no need to go home.

Last time if you stay in HDB consider very fortunate liao... aku still kumpong very envious of those staying in HDB.

Let's put things into comparison : Last time / Now

How many can afford a car? / How many cars can one afford ?

Only 1 TV per 5 household in my neighbourhood. / Only 5 TV per 1 household.

Wear Panda shoe to school. / Wear Prada shoe to school.

Drive a 1000cc car / Drice a 1000 cc motorbike.

Wear Casio digital watch / Wear Casio G-Shock Watch

Whenever rain means from coronation to upper bukit timah road flood and no need to go home / Whenever rain means no taxi to go home.

HDB envied by those staying in kumpong / Kampung envied by those staying in HDB.

What do we want ?

- Better than yesteryears

- Even better than yesterday

- Most importantly, better than my neighbours and friends ( kiasu )

Then FT are more competitive than Sillies.

God can't even help those who don't help themselves. Now economies is going to recession. I guarantee you that there will be more willing Sillies to be FT.
