Hope the forumers who traded in their car recently can let bros here how much they got for their car body and when was the old car registered. It will be different for different people depending on what car you bought and loan how much how long etc.

But i think it will give a rough guide which is good enough.

Like recently, someone in this forum kenna robert when he traded in his Sep'04 sunny for only 1k body value.

Thanks!

Yo dude this is how they do it in the States for used car values. What do you think of this.

They don't have COE and PARF so it is purely a body value estimation and a general recommended price of the car with regard to age, condition and mileage.

Perhaps the LTA should start something like that in Singapore, to ensure more fairness in the industry with regard to car buyers and sellers. Because currently there are many used car dealers who chop greenhorn's heads.

It isn't that accurate because when you trade in your car, some dealers may give you a "higher" body value when they are making money off you elsewhere (such as price of the new car, financing tie-ups, tax structure, rebates), all of which can make your car body value murky.

No my body value is the exact value someone is buying from me for export. it is not tie to any new car purchase.

Long time ago before the advent of COE in Singapore, this was how used cars were traded. But now with the different COE paid by the owner and the OMV of the cars being traded, the previous method is no longer viable and fair. [:)]

Yes, you are right.

But the guy kenna robert, the body price different is huge - 5k at least,

Unless the SE gave him 5K discount on the car.

3 year old Honda Jazz offered 5.5k recently.

However, asking price of second hand Jazz of the same age is at least 15k, gross profit at least 10k for second hand car dealer?

Thats something which we cant control.

No car dealer will sell a car based on

rebate and Car body ( less then 5 yrs old car ).

But when you traded in your car, its

only worth Paper value plus body.

Thats why, there arent alot of 3-5yrs cars for sale

SDV plate to SFM plate on SG carmart.

Most were exported or scrapped unless the car

is either rare or have a very low mileage.

I can help to do a rough quotation for forummers... those who really want to sell their rides, can look for me too. But the quotation I give is a perfect body, no accident, no dings and dangs...

I have access to direct exporters so you guys can fetch a higher price than those dealers.

But please do not compare me with the local authorised agent as some of their vehicles are on promotion and they give overtrade value for your rides.

Hi all,

I have been lurking here for a long time but after reading this thread thought I'd post.

I am an exporter. I buy from showrooms, PIs, ADs, salesman, brokers, owners. From this list, you can see that there are at least 2-3 layers of middlemen before the car reaches someone like me. When I buy direct from owners, like you guys/gals, I am obviously competitive as there is no middle man.

Please note, as the previous poster correctly mentioned, in some cases, when you trade in your car for a new / another 2nd hand car, the seller may "over-trade" your current ride. In this scenario, nobody will be able to beat that price. However, this arrangement is masking the mark-up on your subsequent ride.

Anyway, I will check in here to see if there are general questions on body values. For specific cases, please PM me with details. Examples of cars I buy for direct shipment include most 2002-2003/4 japanese 1.5 - 2.0 automatic models.

My quotes assume that I am buying the body alone, unencumbered by paper / loan issues. For cars that need loan redemption, paper disposal, the brokers charge accordingly, and it's transparent. It also assumes the car is in good condition, with no repairs required. For an accurate quote, use the following format:

Make

Model

Manual / Auto

Engine size

Body variant (eg 3 dr, 5dr, saloon, etc)

Year of manufacture

Date of registration

Colour (please state if not original colour)

Accident free Y/N

Leather Seats Y/N

Sports Rims Y/N

Mileage

Another other accessories / comments (eg, body kit, spoiler, sunroof, etc).

Intended hand over date

Quotes are subject to a visual inspection of the car.

It might interest many of you to note that a body value can half overnight depending on it's age. That's because many importing countries have age restrictions on imported cars. So sometimes, a quote is only valid for a short period of time, usually, if it's borderline, the exporter will advise you on the cutoff date.

Again, for specific quotes, please pm me. For general questions, if i know the answer, I will be happy to reply :)

So fire away, I hope I will be helpful.

Thanks and regards,

A.H.

I am also thinking if i shld change b4 5yrs is up and get the mazda6, or shld i wait awhile more and wait for the new PI accord to come, which might be within a yr.

1)which shld i do?

2)will the car's value drop by alot if it crosses the 5yr mark?

thanks

it's great bros reply here. In fact, even with not so many replies, it's already more then my expectations. :)

With exporters able to deal direct with sellers, i believe it'll be a win-win situation for both since margins made by middleman are cut off. [thumbsup]

Hi...

I am not sure which model your lancer is but assume that it's the 1.6a. After the 5th birthday, 1 more importing country will be excluded from potential demand, so probably your value will dip a bit more.

For readers out there, please note, it doesn't mean that if you dereg the day before the 5th birthday, you will secure the highest body value. Your car needs to go from your hands to the exporter and maybe to a workshop to be repaired/touched up, to the export zone for packing and must reach this particular destination before it's 5th birthday. So the best for some models is still a couple of months before the birthday...if you've missed it, I guess the cost for you to hold for one more year is probably not that much... :)

Have a good day.
