When you try in cmd window, can you issue this command and receive reply?

ping www.yahoo.com.sg

If yes, you should be able to surf. Sometimes it could be some firewall or antivirus blocking. How about your other PC if you have?

They may also ask you set proxy server to help this.

When was last time you can surf? And what changes you did after that time?

I have experienced the same problem with starhub maxonline recently. Was advised to switch off power to modem and on it again. It worked but subsequently everytime I tried to log on the same thing happened and it is becoming a hassle to do tis repeatedly. In the 3 yrs Iam with starhub, this experience nvr occured until recently...wonder what's the problem?

click on START

click on "run"

type "cmd" and hit enter.

click on the black window and type "telnet www.sg 80" and hit ENTER

you should just see the cursor blinking after saying "connecting to www.sg" without any error messages.... if you get errors, just copy/paste it to this forum.

if you get errors at this stage, is a high chance your modem or the isp connectivity got problem.

if you see blinking and a message that says "Escape character is '^]'." then hit ENTER a lot of times randomly, you should see a bunch of text flowing like the following:

HTTP/1.1 400 Bad RequestContent-Type: text/htmlContent-Length: 87Connection: close<html><head><title>Error</title></head><body>The parameter is incorrect. </body></html>Connection closed by foreign host.

if you see the text above, it means your browsers are screwed (problem is on your work station)

if you don't see the text above, then possible is your software firewall.

Does it apply to only MCF?

Are you only able to surf websites hosted on local servers?

Have you configured your proxy settings? For SNBB, its proxy.singnet.com.sg , port: 8080

Can do perform a ping and tracert on MCF?

You might have to try this commands as well, perform them in order from command prompt.

1) ipconfig /flushdns

2) ipconfig /release

3) ipconfig/ renew

Try this:

Open command window.

Type "ipconfig /release" (w/o the "")

Then "ipconfig /renew"

Try surfing.

If cannot, power off router (if you have) and modem. Then power modem back on 1st, let it stabilise. Then power on router and let it stabilise. Try surfing. If cannot, don't know liao.

Good luck.

If your is singtel....try something simple...check you proxy setting (internet option -> connection -> Lan setting) ...check and uncheck and see how...dunno for what reason but last time this is one method I tried (as advised from HWZ)..and it works!tongue.gif

Sorry me not computer savvy but just share my encounter....still got few other methods...b'cos lazst time I also always cannot connect...furious.gif

Turning off and on the modem will work as I tried before. But why do I have to do this everytime I try to connect to the internet? This shouldn't be the case. And starhub staff is damn lazy to solve problems..
